RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS
MGM+ (formerly EPIX) has given the thriller series From a third season renewal. (Variety)
Apple TV+ has cancelled the Patricia Arquette-led dramedy High Desert after only one season. (TV Line)
The half-hour dramedy Reservation Dogs will come to an end on FX after its soon-to-air third season, which will be back on August 2. (TV Line)
Freeform has pulled the plug on the psychology thriller series The Watchful Eye after only one season. (TV Line)
TV SURPRISE
Netflix cancelled the fantasy series Warrior Nun after two seasons six months ago, but the show’s creator and showrunner went on social media earlier this week to say that the series will be back “somewhere, some way.” No deals are in place – yet – but discussions are underway to revive the series through a standalone movie or a shortened final season. It will not be on Netflix though. (TV Line)

Party of Five alums Lacey Chabert and Scott Wolf will reunite for an upcoming Hallmark Channel holiday movie – A Merry Scottish Christmas – playing estranged siblings, who travel to Scotland to reunite with their mother. (Deadline)
Nearly a year after leaving Hallmark, actor Luke Macfarlane has confirmed recent rumors about his return to the network. (Heavy.com)
TV NEWS
Gillian Anderson will star in Kurt Sutter’s upcoming Western series The Abandons that will debut on Netflix. She will join Lena Headey in the series. The tagline for the show is: As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, “justice” is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. (Variety)
Film legend Kevin Bacon will star in the lead role in the straight-to-series thriller The Bondsman at Amazon’s Prime Video. The series centers on Hub Halloran (Bacon), a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead with an unexpected second chance at life, love, and a nearly-forgotten musical career — only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist. BOX OFFICE NEWS
DC Studios has announced the latest actors to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane. They are David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan. This version of the classic story will largely be a workplace origin story. (Variety)
Jared Leto will star in the next movie in the Tron franchise: Tron: Ares. He will be joined by Evan Peters (X-Men franchise and American Horror Story) and Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship and the box office movie Queen & Slim). Leto will play Ares, the manifestation of a program that becomes sentient and crosses over into the human world,. Additional plot details, including specifics on Peters’ and Turner-Smith’s roles, are being kept under wraps. (Variety)
Bones alum Emily Deschanel, True Blood alum Sam Trammell and Noma Dumezweni (who was just seen in the box office movie The Little Mermaid) will stary in the sci-fi romance flick ReEntry. Deschanel will play Elenore, a woman grappling with the disappearance of her husband (Trammell), after he enlists in a scientific experiment run by Dumezweni’s character. But, a year later he returns, and she learns he’s from a parallel dimension. She soon has to decide whether to pursue the man who is 99% of the husband she married or wait for the return of the man she once knew. (Variety)
GAME SHOW NEWS
Just as rumored Ryan Seacrest will be taking over for host Pat Sajak on Wheel of Fortune. (TV Line)
