On August 18, the Amazon 8-episode limited series Harlen Coben’s Shelter will debut online. The show follows the story of Mickey Bolitar (Jaden Michael) after the sudden death of his father leads him to start a new life in Kasselton, New Jersey. Mickey quickly finds himself tangled in the mysterious disappearance of a new student at his school, Ashley Kent, which leads to uncovering unimaginable secrets within their quiet suburban community. With the help of his friends, the inventive Spoon (Adrian Greensmith) and the secretive Ema (Abby Corrigan), Mickey pulls back the sleepy facade of Kasselton to reveal a dark underground that may hold the answers to decades of disappearances, deaths, and legends and perhaps even his own complex family history. Constance Zimmer co-stars.
The new movie Never Too Late to Celebrate will debut on the Hallmark Channel on August 19 at 8 PM. Camila’s (Alexa PenaVega) busy schedule at the dental practice where she works has left her exhausted and with little time for a life outside of her patient load. When she meets Javi (Carlos PenaVega), a substitute teacher at the school where Camila’s mother Sherri (Sherry Miller) works, she takes him up on his offer to join the Spanish class he teaches on the side so she can finally learn the language of her late father. Sparks fly as Javi helps Camila connect with her Mexican roots and, with her 30th birthday around the corner, Javi encourages Camila to mark this milestone with a “double quinceañera” to honor her Hispanic heritage. Not one for big parties, she’s hesitant at first but ultimately decides to take the plunge and celebrate in style.
Lastly on August 20, this 10-part period piece drama The Winter King will debut on MGM+ (formerly EPIX) at 9 PM. This bold, revisionist take on the well-loved Arthurian legend, and based on the Warlord Chronicles series from Bernard Cornwell, the series is set in the 5th Century long before Britain was united. It’s a brutal land of warring factions and tribes where lives were often fleeting and follows Arthur Pendragon (Iain De Caestecker from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as he evolves from outcast to legendary warrior and leader. The series also stars Eddie Marsan, Andrew Gower and Simon Merrells (among others).
Mark your calendars!
