Archive for September, 2023

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On September 12, the new drama The Swarm will debut on The CW at 9 PM. Based on the best-selling novel by Frank Schatzing, the story goes around the world, focusing on strange happenings, borne out of the oceans: Whales destroy boats, deep sea crabs attack beaches, mussels block container ships. An unknown ice worm destabilizes continental slopes and triggers tsunamis. A deadly pathogen spreads into the drinking water. Across the globe, lives are increasingly imperiled, the situation worsening by the day – and yet, nobody can draw a connection between the seemingly random attacks. Except for a group of scientists who come together through their shared sense that something bigger is at play: an intelligent life force, dwelling in the deep – capable of manipulating the ocean, and everything that resides in it. A being which has borne witness to our destruction of the seas and has decided to drive us to extinction. But hardly anyone believes their findings. And so, the group are forced to undertake a life-threatening mission, tracking the intelligent life force within the Arctic Ocean.

The third season of The Morning Show will premiere on Apple TV+ on September 13.

Also on September 13, the Hulu thriller series The Other Black Girl will debut online. Nella (Sinclair Daniel), an editorial assistant, is tired of being the only Black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel (Ashleigh Murray) is hired. But as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company. The cast includes Bellamy Young, Eric McCormack, Hunter Parrish and Garcelle Beauvais.

The season finale of Heels will air on Starz at 10 PM on September 15; and also on that same day, the season finale of Foundation will air online on Apple TV+.

On September 15, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Come Fly With Me will debut at 9 PM. After landing a spot on the Thunderbirds team, an Air Force pilot must find a way to balance flying, family, and her budding romance with a widowed father. The movie stars Heather Hemmens and Niall Matter.

The new movie Love at First Sight will debut online on Netflix on September 15. A plucky American who’s a freak for literature and poetry, Hadley’s (Haley Lu Richardson) on her way from NYC to London to see her father get remarried — but it’s too late. She’s missed her flight. Lucky for her, there’s a seat on the next plane… for way more money. As Hadley commits to credit card debt and waits to board, she meets Oliver (Ben Hardy), a data-driven statistics major from the UK. There’s an immediate connection between the two. From that moment on, fate keeps bringing them together: They end up on the same flight, in different rows — until Oliver’s faulty seat belt causes him to move into the only other seat on the plane, next to Hadley. The plane ride turns into one long date — they enjoy in-flight meals and a movie together, but it’s over too soon. As they land in London, Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in customs before they even exchange numbers. What are the chances they’ll ever meet again? The cast also stars Rob Delaney, Sally Phillips and Jameela Jamil.

On September 15, the new drama Wilderness will debut online on Amazon. Liv’s (Jenna Coleman) “happily-ever-after” quickly turns into a living nightmare upon discovering her husband Will (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is having an affair. She becomes the actress starring in Will’s bad dreams after she learns about his betrayal, and her heartbreak is swiftly followed by another emotion: fury. The couple embarks on an American road trip that Liv has fantasized about since she was little, from the Grand Canyon on through Yosemite, before ending up with a hedonistic weekend in Las Vegas. For Will, it’s a chance to make amends; for Liv, it’s a very different prospect – a landscape where accidents happen all the time. The perfect place to get revenge. The cast includes Ashley Benson, Eric Balfour, Jonathan Keltz and Talia Balsam.

The Amazon movie A Million Miles Away will debut online on September 15. Inspired by the real-life story of NASA flight engineer José Hernández (Michael Pena), the movie follows him and his devoted family of proud migrant farm workers on a decades-long journey, from a rural village in Michoacán, Mexico, to the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, to more than 200 miles above the Earth in the International Space Station. With the unwavering support of his hard-working parents, relatives and teachers, José’s unrelenting drive & determination culminates in the opportunity to achieve his seemingly impossible goal. The cast includes Rosa Salazar, Bobby Soto, Sarayu Blue, Veronica Falcón, Julio César Cedillo, Garret Dillahunt and Eric Johnson.

ON September 16, the Great American Family movie Craft Me a Romance will debut at 8 PM. Nicole Borden (Jodie Sweetin), the owner of a quaint arts and crafts store “The Crafty Companion” is faced with an ultimatum when the owner of “Mitchell’s Art and Craft Supplies” (Brent Bailey) tells her she must either sell her store or be forced out of business.

The remainder of the third and final season of All Rise will premiere on OWN at 9 PM on September 16.

Also on September 16, the Hallmark Channel movie Notes of Autumn will debut at 8 PM. Ellie (Ashley Williams) is a fun-loving, classically trained pianist living in the city who gave up on her passion long ago. Her best friend Leo (Luke Macfarlane) lives in the rustic outskirts of British Columbia. He’s a famous author with writer’s block who can’t seem to finish another installment in his highly popular book series. Realizing they both need a change of scenery, they decide to swap places, only to find themselves completely lost in new surroundings. Ellie gets tangled up in helping Sam (Marcus Rosner), Leo’s neighbor, put together a musical performance for a local fundraiser. Leo strikes up a friendship with Ellie’s good friend Matt (Peter Porte) and opens himself up to writing something different that really inspires him. Their newfound friendships turn into something far more meaningful, and as both Ellie and Leo take part in the joys of the autumn season, they also discover their hearts belong somewhere very different than they ever thought possible.

Lastly on September 17, the new Paramount+ series The Gold will debut online. The mini-series is inspired by the real-life events that took place on  November 26, 1983, when six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport, and inadvertently stumbled across gold bullion worth £26m. What started as ‘a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery, according to detectives at the time, became a seminal event in British criminal history, remarkable not only for the scale of the theft – at the time the biggest in world history – but for its wider legacy. The disposal of the bullion caused the birth of large-scale international money laundering, provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom, united blue and white collar criminals, and left controversy and murder in its wake. The cast includes Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Dominic Cooper (The Preacher), Charlotte Spencer (Cinderella) and Tom Cullen (Black Mirror) [among others].

Mark your calendars!
