On March 14, the new Netflix movie The Electric State will debut online.

Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown will star in the movie directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, which is based on the 2018 illustrated novel by Simon Stalenhag about an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West with a sweet, but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.

The ensemble cast includes Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander, Rahul Kohli, Martin Klebba and Marin Hinkle.

Also voices will be provided by Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo, Billy Gardell and Ron Gronkowski.

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On March 10, the new drama Blackshore will air its first two episodes online on Acorn TV. The picture postcard town of Blackwater might be idyllic for some, but it’s hell on earth for Detective Inspector Fia Lucey (Lisa Dwan), who is facing disciplinary charges for assaulting a violent criminal. She has reluctantly returned home to a town she left many years before. She starts investigating the recent disappearance of hotelier Roisin Hurley, a case everyone else seems strangely reluctant to pursue. After Roisin’s body is pulled out of the lake, sordid secrets emerge. Could there be a connection between these shocking crimes and the traumatic events of Fia’s childhood?

The third season premiere of The Wheel of Time will air online on Amazon Prime on March 13.

On March 13, the new Peacock limited series Long Bright River will debut online. Amanda Seyfried stars as Mickey, a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hit hard by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case. The cast includes Ashleigh Cummings, Britne Oldford and Dash Mihok.

The new Hallmark Mystery movie Mystery Island: Winner Takes All will debut on March 13 at 8 PM.  Mystery Island hosts contest winners vying to solve a fake murder for a grand prize, but the event goes awry when an employee is murdered, and secrets are uncovered. Elizabeth Henstridge and Charlie Weber return for this sequel with Signed, Sealed, Delivered alum Kristin Booth also starring.

On March 13, the new Hulu movie O’dessa will debut online. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, a farm girl (Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink) goes on a journey to retrieve a family heirloom and rescue her one true love. The cast includes Kelvin Harrison Jr., Regina Hall, Mark Boone Junior and Murray Bartlett.

The new Apple TV+ drama series Dope Thief will debut online on March 14. The series, based on the book by Dennis Tafoya, follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern Seaboard. The cast includes Kate Mulgrew, Amir Arison, Brian Tyree Henry, Marin Ireland, Ving Rhames, Wagner Moura and Nesta Cooper.

Lastly on March 15, the new Hallmark Channel movie Royal-ish will debut at 8 PM. Lacey (Nichole Sakura) is an amusement park princess who befriends 8-year-old Rose, a real-life princess, and is recruited by her handsome father (William Moseley) to travel to their kingdom and be the new governess.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Syfy has ordered a third season for The Ark with new episodes slated to begin sometime in 2026. (TV Line)

The Amazon Prime drama The Summer I Turned Pretty will come to an end after its upcoming third season, which is set to premiere in July. (TV Line)

Netflix has pulled the plug on The Recruit after two seasons. (TV Line)

Paramount+ has given Criminal Minds: Evolution a renewal order before its current new season is set to premiere on May 8. (TV Line)

The Hallmark Channel has given a fourth season order to its drama The Way Home. (TV Line)

CBS has pulled the plug on both FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted as well as S.W.A.T. All three shows will end their runs this season. (TV Line)

TV CASTING NEWS

Krysten Ritter has joined the cast of the next spin-off series Dexter: Resurrection that will find Michael C. Hall back in the title role. Ritter will guest star as a character name Mia, but there are no other details about that character. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Rachel Weisz will star and executive produce the new Netflix limited series Vladimir, which will focus on a woman’s life as it unravels and she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague. (Variety)

Chicago Fire alum Eamonn Walker will reprise his role of Deputy Commissioner Wallace Boden in the NBC drama in the April 16 episode. (TV Line)

Sam Worthington will star in the upcoming Netflix series I Will Find You based on the book by Harlan Coben. He will play David Burroughs, a father serving a life sentence for the murder of his own son— a crime he didn’t commit, yet a tragedy he punishes himself for every day. (Variety)

BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actor-turned director Michael B. Jordan will be remaking The Thomas Crown Affair for which he will act and direct. Actress Taylor Russell (Lost in Space and the box office movie Bones and All) will star opposite him in the movie. (Deadline)
