Archive for July, 2025

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On July 21, the new series The Hunting Wives will debut online on Netflix. This 8-episode series was originally slated to debut on Starz, but was picked up by the streamer instead, focusing on Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow) and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank’s (Malin Akerman) irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction and murder. The ensemble cast includes Katie Lowes, Chrissy Metz, Dermot Mulroney, Jaime Ray Newman.

The 6 episode British series Red Eye will debut online on Hulu on July 22. Jing Lusi (Crazy Rich Asians) stars as London police officer DS Hana Li, who is escorting Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage, The Hobbit franchise) back to Beijing where he has been accused of murder. However, on Flight 357, she finds herself embroiled in an escalating conspiracy and a growing number of murders. The cast includes Lesley Sharp and Jemma Moore.

On July 23, the new limited series Washington Black will debut online on Hulu. Based on the bestselling novel of the same name, the series follows the 19th-century odyssey of George Washington “Wash” Black (Eddie Karanja as young Wash and Ernest Kingsley, Jr. as grown up Wash), an eleven-year-old boy born on a Barbados sugar plantation, whose prodigious scientific mind sets him on a path of unexpected destiny. When a harrowing incident forces Wash to flee, he is thrust into a globe-spanning adventure that challenges and reshapes his understanding of family, freedom and love. As he navigates uncharted lands and impossible odds, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of the society he was born into. The series includes Sterling K. Brown, Rupert Graves and Tom Ellis among its cast.

The season premiere of Family Law will air on July 23 at 8 PM on CW.

On July 24, the second and final season of The Sandman will air its final six episodes online on Netflix.

The new drama Code of Silence will debut online on Britbox on July 24. The series focuses on Alison Brooks (Rose Ayling-Ellis), a Deaf canteen worker who is struggling to make ends meet, juggling two jobs, while also doing her best to support her Deaf mom, Julie. It’s not long before Alison is pulled into a high-stakes police investigation (since one of her jobs is in a police canteen) when DS Ashleigh Francis (Charlotte Ritchie) asks that she use her lip-reading skills to monitor a dangerous criminal gang. As her interpretation of their covert conversations becomes central to the investigation, Alison is plunged into an exhilarating new world. Her role quickly becomes key to unlocking the police case, but her feelings become complicated when she finds herself drawn to one of the suspects, Liam Barlow (Kieron Moore). Despite knowing the risks and growing threat to her personal life, Alison can’t let go.

The linear debut of the holiday movie Unwrapping Christmas: Olivia’s Reunion will debut on the Hallmark Channel on July 26 at 8 PM. The original movie debuted on Hallmark+ on November 28, 2024.

Lastly also on July 26, the Lifetime movie Before Your Father Finds Us will debut at 8 PM. RENEWALS

AMC has renewed The Walking Dead: Dead City for a third season. (TV Line)

The CW has announced they will air the 4th season of the Canadian drama Sullivan’s Crossing. (TV Line)

TV CASTING NEWS

It would seem that the CBS hit series Tracker is going to be down two more series regulars as Eric Graise and Abby McEnany are leaving the show before the start of the drama’s upcoming third season. That leaves only Justin Hartley in the lead role and Fiona Rene, who plays Reenie Green as series regulars. (TV Line)

Marvel star Brie Larson will star opposite Olivia Colman in the upcoming limited series Cry Wolf at FX that will be a psychological family thriller following a social worker (Colman) and a mother (Larson) who are thrust into crisis when the mother’s teenage daughter alleges abuse, pushing both women to their limits as they navigate an impossible situation. (Variety)

Minnie Driver (Speechless and The Riches), Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) and Natacha Karam (9-1-1: Lone Star) will appear in the first installment of the FOX Biblical limited series The Faithful, which is based on The Old Testament’s Book of Genesis, told through the eyes of five of The Bible’s most iconic women. Driver will play Sarah, Donovan will play Abraham and Karam will play Hagar. (Deadline)

Austin Nichols (One Tree Hill) has joined the cast of the popular Netflix series Virgin River, but details about his character remain under wraps for now. (TV Line)

Former Supergirl star Mehcad Brooks is leaving Law & Order after three seasons, as the actor wants to explore other acting opportunities. (Deadline)

The 100 alum Richard Harmon has joined the cast of the upcoming FOX drama Memory of a Killer that will star Patrick Dempsey as Angelo Ledda (Patrick Dempsey), a hit man who has developed early onset Alzheimer’s. Harmon will play Joe, a hit man who works for Angelo and Dutch (Michael Imperioli). Harmon will play a character named Joe, who gets stuck with the grunt work – gathering recon and sorting getaway plans – but that puts him in prime position to witness Angelo’s Alzheimer’s decline. Joe knows he could make or break Angelo, but he also knows that choice could cost him everything. (Variety)

Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) will star in the Netflix drama Unaccustomed Earth that is inspired by the short story collection by Jhumpa Lahiri. The series will be an epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant about a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, desire, and belonging. Rich with nuance, passion, and unforgettable characters, the series invites you into the elite and insular Indian-American community of Cambridge, MA. When a star-crossed romance between a devoted wife and her long-lost love comes to light, a scandalous affair is born and new battle lines are drawn in this intensely interconnected immigrant community. Pinto will play a character name Parul Chaudhury. (Deadline)

BOX OFFICE MOVIE CASTING NEWS

Esmé Creed-Miles (the title lead in the small screen adaptation of Hanna) will play Marianne Dashwood in the upcoming film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility that will star Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing and Twisters) as Elinor Dashwood. (Variety)

Andor star Diego Luna has joined the cast of the indie thriller Eleven Days where he will star opposite Taylor Kitsch in a story that will be set in the sweltering heat of a Texas summer in 1974, when ruthless prisoner Federico Carrasco (Luna) plays a deadly game against Jim Estelle (Kitsch), head of the Texas Department of Corrections, after taking over Huntsville Penitentiary and holding dozens hostage when his pre-planned escape goes awry. Lines between captor and captive, and justice and survival, begin to blur as the siege spirals for 11 endless, terrifying days. (Deadline)

Lewis Pullman (Thunderbolts) and Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) will star in the surrealist relationship comedy movie Wishful Thinking that will focus on a volatile couple who discover their emotional state has supernatural consequences on the world around them. The pair must decide whether to fight for their relationship or accept that their powerful connection might be doing more harm than good. (Variety)

That’s it. Enjoy!
