The new drama The Gold, which debuted on Paramount+ in 2023, will make its linear TV debut on PBS at 10 PM on October 5.
This period piece, set in 1983, is inspired by one of the largest robberies in British history: the Brink’s-Mat robbery. On November 26, 1983, six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport and inadvertently stumbled across gold bullion worth £26m — the disposal of which led to a vast international money laundering operation and left controversy and murder in its wake.
The cast includes Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter and Captain America: The First Avenger) and Tom Cullen (Becoming Elizabeth) [among others].
