The live action feature film How to Train Your Dragon will make its streaming debut online on Peacock on October 10.

In this live-action and CGI-mixed film, as an ancient threat endangers both Vikings and dragons alike on the isle of Berk, the friendship between Hiccup (Mason Thames), an inventive Viking, and Toothless, a Night Fury dragon, becomes the key to both species forging a new future together.

The cast includes Nico Parker, Gerard Butler and Nick Frost.

On October 10, the new movie The Woman in Cabin 10 will debut online on Netflix.

Based on the 2016 novel by Ruth Ware, the story focuses on a journalist (Keira Knightley) covering the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise ship who is convinced she has witnessed a passenger being thrown overboard, despite all guests and crew being accounted for.

The cast includes Guy Pearce, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Hannah Waddingham, David Ajala, David Morrissey, Daniel Ings and Kaya Scodelario.

The new drama The Last Frontier will debut online on Apple TV+ on October 10.

The series focuses on Frank Remnick (Jason Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska. His jurisdiction is turned upside down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.

The cast includes Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell and Alfre Woodard.

Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On October 7, the 4-part series Red Alert will debut online on Paramount+. The series portrays the largest and deadliest massacre in Israel’s history, when more than 1,200 concert-goers, families and individuals near the Gaza border were murdered and 250 kidnapped.

The new HBO Max limited series drama One Day in October will air online on October 7. The series presents seven emotionally gripping and artistically interwoven narratives of love, courage, sacrifice and survival. From families torn apart to moments of hope emerging in the face of unspeakable tragedy to incredible bravery against the odds, each episode reveals the human cost and resilience born out of chaos. The series portrays the victims’ and survivors’ experiences of that day and is brought to life by a distinguished cast and acclaimed creative team.

On October 8, the Amazon Prime movie Maintenance Required will air online. The film follows Charlie (Madelaine Petsch from Riverdale, who also serves as an executive producer), the owner of an all-female mechanic shop, who is forced to reevaluate her business when a flashy corporate competitor moves in across the street. Seeking comfort, she confides in an anonymous online confidant named Beau (Jacob Scipio from Bad Boys for Life), unaware that he is actually her real-life business rival. As their connection deepens, both online and offline, the truth about their identities threatens to complicate their budding relationship. On October 9, the season premiere of 9-1-1 will air on ABC at 8 PM followed by the debut of the spin-off series 9-1-1: Nashville at 9 PM and then the 22nd season of Grey’s Anatomy will premiere at 10 PM. 9-1-1: Nashville is, of course, set in Tennessee, focusing on dedicated emergency responders balance their high-stakes careers with the drama of a powerful local dynasty, where personal lives and professional duties collide. The cast includes Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Juani Feliz, Hailey Kilgore, Hunter McVey and Michael Provost.

The new series Boots will debut online on Netflix on October 9. Bullied gay teen Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) joins the Marine Corps with his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh) despite risks. In boot camp they experience profound personal change amid danger, as their platoon confronts both literal and figurative landmines. Lastly, also on October 12, the Hallmark Channel movie Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Buried at C will debut at 8 PM. Our favorite music teacher Gethsemane (Tamera Mowry-Housley) is back again along with her trusted ghost friend Eamon (Risteard Cooper) to solve the unexplained death of a sea captain. The film also stars Marco Grazzini.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Amazon Prime has given the Maggie Q-led drama Ballard a season two renewal. (Deadline)

Great American Family has given the spin-off series When Hope Calls for a third season. The forthcoming season, which comes with a new subtitle Brookfield, is currently in production and is slated to return sometime in 2026. (TV Line)

Showtime will bring the long-running drama The Chi to an end after its upcoming 8th season. (Variety)

The Hulu comedy Mid-Century Modern, which starred Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane, the late Linda Lavin and Nathan Lee Graham, has been pulled after only one season. (Variety)

Paramount+ has given the drama series Lioness a third season renewal. (Deadline)

SERIES ORDER NEWS

ABC has given a series order to the new hour-long pilot RJ Decker, which is the current working title, for the drama that will star Felicity alum Scott Speedman as RJ Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. BOX OFFICE NEWS

Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway will star in the Ron Howard-directed flick Alone at Dawn that will be based on the book by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz that is based on an incredible true story. Years after Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman fought to the death to save his fellow soldiers, an intelligence officer strives to prove his valor — leading an investigation that ultimately would secure him the Medal of Honor. (Deadline)

The sequel flick The Beekeeper 2 will find Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave reprising their roles from the original film while Guardians of the Galaxy alum Pom Klementieff and Haven alum Adam Copeland are joining the cast. Plot details for the sequel and character details for the latter two cast members are being kept under wraps. (Variety)

Rami Malek has joined the cast of the upcoming film The Man I Love that will be set in late ‘80s New York that will star Tom Sturridge, Rebecca Hall and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The movie is being described as a “musical fantasia of a city under duress.” (Variety)

TV CASTING NEWS

Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow and The Morning Show) has been cast as a series regular in the Netflix thriller All the Sinners Bleed based on the novel S.A. Cosby will follow the story of Titus Crown (Sope Dìrísù), the first Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county. Haunted by his devout mother’s untimely death, he must lead the hunt for a serial killer that has been preying on his Black community for years in the name of God. Beharie will play Darlene, Titus’ supportive girlfriend. (Deadline)

Brooke Shields will be reprising her role of Charlotte Thornton (mother of the late Jack Thornton) in the upcoming season 13 of the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart. (Variety)
