Lizzie Bennet Book

The following is a verbatim article from the folks at Pemberley Digital, the fictional company run by William Darcy in the successful (and Emmy winning) web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries regarding the soon to be released The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, which will be published on July 1, 2014 and available for pre-order via various outlets such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBookstore and more:

A modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice based on the Emmy Award-winning phenomenon, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

There is a great deal that goes into making a video blog. Lizzie Bennet should know, having become a YouTube sensation over the course of her year-long video diary project. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries chronicled Lizzie’s life as a twenty-four-year-old grad student, struggling under a mountain of student loans and living at home with her two sisters—beautiful Jane Bennet and reckless Lydia Bennet. What may have started as her grad student thesis grew into so much more, as the videos came to inform and reflect her life and that of her sisters. When rich, handsome Bing Lee comes to town, along with his stuck-up friend William Darcy, things really start to get interesting for the Bennets—and for Lizzie’s viewers. Suddenly Lizzie—who always considered herself a fairly normal young woman—was a public figure. But not everything happened on-screen. Luckily for us, Lizzie kept a secret diary. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet provides more character introspection as only a book can, with revelatory details about the Bennet household, including Lizzie’s special relationship with her father, untold stories from Netherfield, Lizzie’s thoughts and fears about life after grad school and becoming an instant web celebrity.

Written by Bernie Su, the series’ executive producer, co-creator, head writer, and director, along with Kate Rorick, the novelist, TV writer, and consulting producer on the series, the novel features a journal-entry format and design, complementing the existing web series, while including plenty of fresh twists to delight fans and new readers alike. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet expands on the phenomenon that captivated a generation and reimagines the Pride and Prejudice story like it’s never been done before.

The following comes straight from Rob Thomas, Veronica Mars series creator and writer-director of the much-anticipated box office film (copied verbatim):

Music has always been an essential part of Veronica Mars. Over the years, I’ve heard from a lot of fans who still listen to the soundtrack from the television series, telling me that Veronica Mars introduced them to Tegan & Sara, Mike Doughty, The Faders, Something Happens, Cotton Mather and more. As someone who loves music, it feels good to introduce more people to musicians I enjoy.

Music has always been important to me. While I was working on the film script last spring, there were a handful of songs that I kept listening to. Some of those songs were even mentioned in the script to describe the emotional tone I wanted for certain scenes. And when I met with Kasey Truman, our music supervisor, that playlist was the first thing we discussed.

Now that we’re almost done with the final sound mix, I’m excited to confirm that many of those songs will be on the official soundtrack album, which I’ve just learned will be available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon starting next week. And for those of you who also loved Josh Kramon’s score for the original series, and were disappointed that it was never released for sale, even more good news:

WaterTower Music will release not one, but two Veronica Mars albums in March:

The OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK will be available on March 4.
The OFFICIAL FILM SCORE will be available on March 14.

And I’ve got the cover art to prove it:

VM Score

Our movie has a soundtrack AND a score, both from WaterTower records!

You’ll be pleased to know that, yes, The Dandy Warhols are back.

I was also going to tell you that the official soundtrack will include tracks from Mr. Twin Sister, Sufjan Stevens, and Emperor X, among others. But then I found out that I’m allowed to share the entire track list with you:

We Used To Be Friends (Alejandro Escovedo)
Go Captain and Pinlighter (Emperor X)
Holding My Breath (Mr. Twin Sister)
All Around and Away We Go (Mr. Twin Sister)
Criminal (ZZ Ward – ft. Freddie Gibbs)
Chicago (Sufjan Stevens)
Stick Up (Max)
Never Give In (Mackintosh Braun)
Prosthetic Love (Typhoon)
You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine (Lou Rawls)
Second Chances (Gregory Alan Isakov)
We Used To Be Friends (The Dandy Warhols)
Mug Shot (Max) *bonus track – on digital album only.

For those who have been asking, one of the tracks – Stick Up, by Max – is the same song featured in the last 30 seconds of our official trailer. And yes, you’ll also hear it in the movie.

Mark those calendars for the soundtrack and original score release dates and make sure to see Veronica Mars at your local theatre on March 14.
