As of yesterday, January 6, fans of the new NBC drama The Cape, which has its two-hour premiere this Sunday, January 9, from 9 to 11 PM T can submit original villain concepts that will give one lucky fan the chance to see their creation during an upcoming episode.

Go here to see the video clip of series star Summer Glau, which was released yesterday at the show’s Facebook page. The clip is provided by NBC via The Futon Critic.

To enter the contest, viewers need to submit the name of their villain, a brief description and a sketch. As indicated on the website, the judges — a panel that includes Tom Wheeler (series creator) and producers from The Cape — are looking for “original and colorful villains that wield unique abilities, quirks and obsessions. This is your chance, be creative!”

The submission window closes on January 28.

The Cape is about a man who lost everything and is about to take it all back. David Lyons (ER) stars as Vince Faraday, a cop framed for crimes he did not commit, forcing him to team up with a group of carnival misfits to take a new identity, fight crime and win his family back. Fueled by a desire to reunite with his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin from Life on Mars) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott from Flash Forward), Faraday becomes The Cape – his son’s favorite comic book superhero – taking the law into his own hands and battling the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City.

Do you want to appear in the February 4 Smallville episode called “Beacon“? Do you believe in heroes? If so, Smallville wants to hear from you via the Smallville: Believe in Heroes Challenge.

But first, please read the following details of the February 4 episode and then read on for the details of this challenge:

In the episode “Beacon,” Clark (series star Tom Welling) is at an emotional crossroads, with Metropolis divided by a clash between supporters of the government’s Vigilante Registration Act and opposing rallies to generate support for indispensable heroes like The Blur. Clark’s friends assure him that he is, indeed, making a difference in his crime-fighting role as The Blur, and to prove their point, they show him videos from the Internet in which ordinary citizens express what The Blur means to them, what it means to be a hero – and what it means to have heroes and believe in them. One of these videos could be yours!

Here’s how it works:

From now through Monday, December 20, at 11 AM (Pacific Time) fans of Smallville can submit their own video testimonial as one of these hopeful citizens by uploading videos to The CW’s official website here.

In these videos, viewers – speaking in character as impassioned citizens of Metropolis and around the world, fighting for the rights of their heroes – can express what The Blur means to them and talk about why they believe in these super heroes.

Smallville producers and the CWTV.com team will review the submissions and select a number of the user-submitted videos for broadcast as the testimonials that Clark watches during the “Beacon” episode.

In addition to selecting the winning videos to be used in the episode, the show’s producers and the CWTV.com team will also select a number of additional favorite videos that will be posted to CWTV.com following the broadcast.

Paley Center for Media

Do you have a big idea? That is the question being posed by the Paley Center for Media and TEDWomen.

What is TEDWomen? Here is the 411 on them:

Over the past several years, a flood of fascinating data from the worlds of education, micro-finance and more has shown an essential link between investing in women and girls and economic growth, public health and political stability. A new lens reveals women as powerful change agents in developing nations; meanwhile, in the West, generations of educated women are forging new directions in the sciences, arts, business and beyond. To track this emerging story, the first-ever TEDWomen will invite both women and men to explore in depth: Who are the women leading change? What ideas are they championing? How are women reshaping the future? The cross-disciplinary, cross-generational program will focus on how women think and work, communicate and collaborate, learn and lead — what this means and why it matters to all of us. Speakers from around the globe — both men and women, from anthropologists to artists, scientists to soldiers, farmers to futurists — will share their ideas in the classic TED format, creating a program that surprises and inspires.

And, if you have a big idea and are passionate about what you do, you could win an all-expense paid trip to attend the inaugural TEDWomen Conference in Washington, DC, which will be held on December 7 and 8.

The contest ends on November 23. To learn more about the conference and the contest, please visit here.

Pretty Little Liars

Are you a fan of the ABC Family Channel series Pretty Little Liars?  Are you still on the edge of your seat, waiting to find out who ran over Hanna?  Are you wondering who turned Toby into the police?  Are Ezra and Aria going to continue their forbidden relationship?

Well, if you’re like the many who don’t want to wait until January 3 to get the answers to these and many other questions about the series, you’re in luck.  There is a way for you to get a VIP sneak screening of the mid-season premiere.

ABC Family is hosting a seven-week long online scavenger hunt, which actually began on Monday (November 1).  It’s called the Pretty Little Liars Secret Seekers.

Be forewarned, though, that you will have to deal with the mysterious “A” to get clues.  Each week “A” will hack into http://www.ABCFamily.com/secrets, the show’s official Facebook fan page, and the PLL Insiders text campaign to post missions for you to complete in order to access the clues.

The first person to email “A” the answer to the mystery at the end of the seven week hunt wins the grand prize: a VIP screening of the mid-season premiere hosted in your hometown along with 10 of your friends on January 2.

To join the hunt (and to find out more details), please visit here.
