Mark your calendars all those of you out there who are braving the insanity (or, more importantly, were able to get passes) that is the San Diego Comic Con.

Hotel registration will open on March 29 and it will be assuredly be a free-for-all once again if open registration for day and weekend passes are any example.

You can learn more details on early bird hotel registration here (be forewarned these hotels are a farther distance from the hotel that you might think) or watch this page for updates on the March 29 hotel registration.

Craig Horner

Fans of now defunct syndicated series The Legend of the Seeker who are attending Wonder Con rejoice!

Actor Craig Horner, who played Richard Cypher, will be making a very rare appearance at the Save Our Seeker fan table (Booth F-16) where he will be presenting a prop replica of The Sword of Truth, the most iconic prop in the series and participating in an autograph session and photo-opp with fans.

He will appear on March 17 and March 18, signing autographs and doing one-on-one photo opportunities for a very limited amount of guests from 12 Noon to 3:30 PM on both days.

Fans are welcome to come dressed in their best Seeker costume or any attire for their 8 x 10 photo with Craig.

Fans are asked to help support this fan effort, as it will be taped for the studios to show them the tremendous love fans have for the show.

Craig will be on a very tight schedule so fans are asked to be patient and keep the conversation quick as a courtesy to others. The autograph schedule each day will be from 12 Noon to 2 PM with press interviews from 2 to 2:30 PM and photo opportunities from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.

For those who cannot attend Wonder Con, a limited number of orders are being taken for personalized 8 x 10 pre-orders. Click here for pricing and choices.

If you have questions, you can send an email to wizardsrule@seekersword.com.

You can learn about the Save Our Seeker campaign here.

Can you believe that it has been 10 years since the launch of Firefly?

For those of you unfamiliar, Firefly is the short-lived FOX series from Joss Whedon (the man behind Buffy, Angel and Dollhouse) that starred Nathan Fillion (Castle), Morena Baccarin (Homeland), Gina Torres (Suits), Summer Glau (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Adam Baldwin (Chuck), Ron Glass (Barney Miller), Jewel Staite (Stargate Atlantis) and Sean Maher (The Playboy Club).

Well, it has and according to the folks over at Firefly: The 10th Anniversary, it was back on Tuesday, March 5, 2002, that filming on Firefly began, officially launching what would go on to become one of the most infamously short-lived television series of all time, albeit one with a seemingly long-lived, and very busy, fandom.

To commemorate a decade of flying, Firefly: The 10th Anniversary will tip you to celebrations both major and minor, post obscure ephemera from back in the day, and maybe finagle a guest post or two — from those who made the show, those who watched the show, and those who helped make ten years of Firefly fandom what it was and continues to be.

You can learn more about Firefly: The 10th Anniversary and learn about events as they are posted here.

The following is a direct excerpt from an article from The L.A. Times:

Comic-Con International, the massive San Diego expo celebrating entertainment of the fantastic, is more than four months away, but it will be the hot topic this weekend: Entrance badges go on sale online Saturday at 8 AM Pacific Standard Time.

Fans that met the February 28 registration deadline to register for a Member ID (a new first step added to the process this year) can purchase badges via Event Planning International Corp. (EPIC). Here’s hoping the rush to secure admittance to the event doesn’t launch the flurry of “epic fail” puns that followed last year’s online badge sales, which crashed Comic-Con’s website on three separate registration opening days. Eventually, on the final attempt in February 2011, the badges sold out in less than one day.

An email Comic-Con International sent out to those with Member IDs today declared, “As you know, because of limited space at the San Diego Convention Center we have had to cap attendance for the last few years. The new Member ID registration process is an attempt to streamline the process of purchasing a badge and hopefully reducing, to a great number, those who purchase badges only for resale.”

The pop culture event runs July 11-15, 2012. Over 126,000 attended last year.

Mark your calendars and be prepared!

It will be members first! To reward members of The Paley Center for Media for their support; and for the first time (ever), there will be two lines in front of the Saban Theatre: one for members and one for the general public. The members line will allow access to the theater before the general public.

If you are a member, all you need to do to ensure that you receive priority entry is to bring your member card with you to the show. If you are a new member and have not yet received your card, please bring your confirmation email from TicketWeb as proof of membership.

If you are not a member, you can join on-the-spot and receive early entry for the remainder of the Festival.

And the same member benefits will apply for events and programs held at The Paley Center throughout the year, including priority entry.

NOTE: It will be interesting to see how the Saban Theatre handles/organizes these two entry lines since for years now the folks who have VIP and/or Premium Passes are allowed early access – in fact, they pay a higher amount for their tickets to ensure early admittance.
