Based on information provided by the Box Office Mojo and some internet research, here are just some of the movies you can expect to see in the movie theatres in April:

God’s Not Dead 2
Opens: April 1

After answering a student’s (Hayley Orrantia) question about Jesus, a junior high-school teacher (Melissa Joan Hart) faces an epic court case that could end her career. The cast includes Robin Givens, Pat Boone, Ernie Hudson, Jesse Metcalfe and Ray Wise.

Demolition
Opens: April 8

A sympathetic woman (Naomi Watts) and her rebellious son (Judah Lewis) form a strong bond with an investment banker (Jake Gyllenhaal) whose life begins to unravel following the death of his wife (Heather Lind). The film also stars Chris Cooper.

Louder than Bombs
Opens: April 8

A widower (Gabriel Byrne) and his two sons must cope with new details about the death of his wife (Isabelle Huppert), a famed war photographer. The cast includes Jesse Eisenberg, David Strathairn, Amy Ryan and Rachel Brosnahan.

One More Time
Opens: April 8

Beautiful aspiring rock star Jude (Amber Heard) is stuck in a rut – relegated to recording commercial jingles and lost in a series of one night stands. When she is evicted from her Brooklyn apartment, she is forced to move into the Hamptons home of her wealthy – and selfish – father Paul Lombard (Christopher Walken), an over-the-hill, Sinatra-esque crooner angling for a musical comeback. As the two reunite, Jude is forced to confront her problems. The film also stars Kelli Garner and Oliver Platt.

Criminal
Opens: April 15

The memories and skills of a deceased CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds) are implanted into gruff convict, Jericho Stewart (Kevin Costner), in order to finish an incomplete mission. The cast includes Gal Gadot, Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman, Alice Eve, Antje Traue, Amaury Nolasco and Michael Pitt.

The Jungle Book
Opens: April 15

Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi) is a human boy raised by the Indian wolves Raksha (Lupita Nyong’o) and Akela (Giancarlo Esposito) ever since he was a baby and brought to them by Bagheera the black panther (Ben Kingsley). When the fearsome scarred Bengal tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba) threatens his life since man isn’t allowed in the jungle, Mowgli leaves his jungle home. Guided by Bagheera and Baloo the bear (Bill Murray), he sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the man-hunting Shere Khan. The cast includes Ritesh Rajan and Scarlett Johannson will provide one of the other voices.

A Hologram for the King
Opens: April 22

The film tells the story of a washed-up, desperate American salesman (Tom Hanks) who travels to Saudi Arabia to secure the IT contract for a massive new complex being built in the middle of the desert. The cast includes Ben Whishaw and Tom Skerritt.

Elvis & Nixon
Opens: April 22

On the morning of December 21, 1970, actor-singer Elvis Presley (Michael Shannon) shows up to the white House and requests for an urgent meeting with President Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey), to swear him in as an undercover agent in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. The film includes Alex Pettyfer, Colin Hanks, Evan Peters, Tate Donovan, Johnny Knoxville and Ashley Benson.

The Huntsman Winter’s Tale
Opens: April 22

Long before the Evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister Freya, the Ice Queen (Emily Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young Ice Queen has spent years in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly Huntsmen, including Eric (Chris Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Jessica Chastain), only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: forever harden your hearts to love. When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. But once she resurrects Ravenna from the Mirror’s golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkness it’s ever seen. Now, their amassing army shall prove unbeatable unless the banished Huntsmen who broke their Queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another. Mother’s Day
Opens: April 28

Intertwining stories revolve around a television host (Julia Roberts), a divorcee (Jennifer Aniston) looking for love and a woman (Kate Hudson) who wants to strengthen her relationship with her mother. The film includes Jason Sudeikis, Timothy Olyphant, Jon Lovitz, Margo Martindale, Sarah Chalke, Britt Robertson and Shay Mitchell.

Haunted by the death of one brother and the dire circumstances of the other, he finds temporary solace in the Hollywood excess that defines his existence. Women provide a distraction to the daily pain he must endure, and every encounter that comes his way brings him closer to finding his place in the world. The cast includes Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Antonio Banderas, Wes Bentley, Brian Dennehy, Isabel Lucas, Teresa Palmer, Freido Pinto and Cherry Jones.

London Has Fallen
Opens: March 4

In London, the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances and his funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. What starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The cast includes Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo, Radha Mitchell and Jackie Earle Haley.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Opens: March 4

While working as a war correspondent in Afghanistan and Pakistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, Kim Barker (Tina Fey) develops a crazy relationship with a fellow journalist from Scotland (Martin Freeman). The film also stars Margot Robbie, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina, Josh Charles, Sheila Vand and Nicholas Braun.

Zootopia
Opens: March 4

From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a wily fox who makes her job even harder.  Voices will be provided by Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Alan Tudyk, Katie Lowes, Kristen Bell and Josh Dallas.

Eye in the Sky
Opens: March 11

Colonel Katherine Powell (Helen Mirren) leads a secret drone mission to capture a terrorist group living in a safehouse in Nairobi, Kenya. When Powell learns that the group plans to carry out a suicide attack, her objective is changed to kill the terrorists. Drone pilot Steve Watts (Aaron Paul) targets the safehouse for destruction but reports a nine-year-old girl entering the kill zone. Powell contacts politicians and lawyers to determine whether or not to take action. The film also stars the late Alan Rickman, Jeremy Northam, Iain Glen, Carl Beukes and Kim Engelbrecht.

Hello, My Name Is Doris
Opens: March 11

With help from her best friend’s (Tyne Daly) granddaughter (Isabella Acres), a smitten woman (Sally Field) concocts schemes to get the attention of a younger co-worker (Max Greenfield) in her office. The cast includes Beth Behrs, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Gallagher, Natasha Lyonne, Rebecca Wisocky, Amy Okuda and Stephen Root.

Midnight Special
Opens: March 18

Roy (Michael Shannon) is a father desperate to protect his uniquely gifted, eight-year-old son Alton (Jaeden Lieberher). Joined by his accomplice, Lucas, and his ex-wife, Sarah (Kirsten Dunst), this group must race to get Alton to a secret location all while being hunted by an extreme religious sect led by Calvin Meyer (Sam Shepard) and a government task force headed up by Paul Sevier (Adam Driver). It is a full-on chase, the outcome of which could bring about a world-changing event. The cast also includes Joel Edgerton.

Miracles from Heaven
Opens: March 18

Set in Burleson, Texas, in 2011, the film centers on a 12-year-old girl named Anna (Kylie Rogers), daughter of Christy Beam (Jennifer Garner). Anna is suffering from a pseudo-obstruction motility disorder and is unable to eat, using feeding tubes for nutrition. One day she has a near-death experience after falling from a tree. She is subsequently cured from her disease in the Boston Children’s Hospital. The cast includes Martin Henderson, John Carroll Lynch and Queen Latifah.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant
Opens: March 18

After the earth-shattering revelations of The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known in order to find a peaceful solution for their embroiled city. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice. The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ansel Elgort, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Jeff Daniels, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Maggie Q, Bill Skarsgard and Keiynan Lonsdale.

The Little Prince
Opens: March 18

The mother of a prodigious young girl wants her daughter to enroll in the prestigious Werth Academy. To ensure her daughter will pass the entrance exam, the mother imposes on her a rigorous study schedule over the course of the summer that leaves little room for leisure. The girl becomes distracted by her next-door neighbor, an elderly, retired aviator who shares with her the story of a young boy from a distant asteroid, the “little prince”, whom he supposedly encountered in a desert after crashing his plane. As the two play together without the mother’s knowledge, the aviator tells the girl that he must “leave” soon. The film stars Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti and Ricky Gervais.

The Program
Opens: March 18

Journalist David Walsh (Chris O’Dowd) of The Sunday Times investigates famed cyclist Lance Armstrong (Ben Foster) for doping. The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Lee Pace, Dustin Hoffman, Laura Donnelly and Bryan Greenberg.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Opens: March 25

Following the events of Man of Steel, Gotham City-based vigilante Batman (Ben Affleck) travels to Metropolis to preemptively combat Superman (Henry Cavill), while another threat endangers humankind. The film also stars Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Harry Lennix, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jena Malone and Scoot McNairy.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
Opens: March 25

After spending most of their time focusing on their troubling teenage daughter, Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Ian (John Corbett) are facing marital problems while also having to deal with yet another Greek wedding – this time, even bigger and fatter. The cast includes Lainie Kazan, Michael Constantine, Andrea Martin, Ian Gomez, John Stamos, Rita Wilson, Joey Fatone and Louis Mandylor.
