On June 1, the new Australian series Cleverman will debut on SundanceTV at 10 PM.
Set in the near future, the series is a startlingly original drama rooted in Aboriginal mythology, depicting a deeply conflicted and anxious society, fearful of a minority group living among them, endowed with extraordinary physical traits.
One young man – The Cleverman – struggles with his own power and the responsibility to unite this divided world, but he must first overcome a deep estrangement from his older brother.

Her on-again/off-again romance with the sweet, but soft-spoken Timothy (Jesse Rath from Defiance) has sputtered out. Her career has stalled. Her boss, Deirdre (Amy Pietz from The Nine Lives of Chloe King and Caroline in the City), a petty tyrant with breath that could kill a plant, laughs off her ambitions. Then Evie meets charming, free-spirited Xavier Holliday (Joshua Sasse from Galavant and Rogue), and the attraction is immediate and electric. He brings a jolt of joyful, rollicking romance into her life. Xavier encourages Evie to carpe that diem, because it’s more fun that way and because, well, the apocalypse is, you know, nigh. He believes humankind has a mere eight months and twelve days until a runaway asteroid smacks us all into stardust. That’s why he made an Apocalyst – a tally of every last thing he wants to do before the world goes kaput. So with the help of her friends – Hank (Jonathan Langdon from Game On), a diehard conspiracy theorist, and Kareema (Sarayu Blue from Monday Mornings and The Real O’Neals), a droll nihilist – Evie must decide whether Xavier is certifiable and whether that even matters, if being with him means living her life more fully.

Frequency focuses on Detective Raimy Sullivan (Peyton List from The Flash and The Tomorrow People) has always wanted to prove that she is nothing like her father. In 1996, when Raimy was eight years old, NYPD Officer Frank Sullivan (Riley Smith from Nashville) left Raimy and her mother, Julie (Devin Kelley from Resurrection and Covert Affairs), behind when he went deep undercover, got corrupted, and got himself killed. Or so the story has always gone. Few people knew about the secret undercover sting operation Frank was really charged with, led by Stan Moreno (Anthony Ruivivar from Banshee and Revolution), who has now risen to Deputy Chief of Police. Frank’s former partner, Lieutenant Satch Reyna (Mekhi Phifer from ER and The Divergent franchise), is now Raimy’s mentor and friend, and he has urged her to let go of the hurt and anger she still feels about Frank’s disappearance and death, but the old pain still lingers. Raimy can barely bring herself to discuss Frank, even with her devoted boyfriend, Daniel (Daniel Bonjour from The Walking Dead), or her childhood friend, Gordo (Lenny Jacobson from Nurse Jackie). Now, twenty years later, Raimy is stunned when a voice suddenly crackles through her father’s old, long-broken ham radio – it’s Frank, somehow transmitting over the airwaves and through the decades from 1996. They’re both shocked and confused, but Raimy shakes Frank to the core when she warns him that the secret sting he is undertaking will lead to his death. Armed with that knowledge, Frank survives the attempt on his life. But changing history has dramatically affected Raimy’s life in the present – and there have been tragic consequences. The one new drama that will debut later in the season is:
Riverdale focuses on what happens as a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom – and nothing feels the same. Archie Andrews (newcomer KJ Apa) is still the all-American teen, but the summer’s events made him realize that he wants to pursue a career in music – not follow in his dad’s footsteps – despite the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy (Sarah Habel from Rush and Underemployed). Which means Archie doesn’t have anyone who will mentor him – certainly not singer Josie McCoy (newcomer Ashleigh Murray), who is only focused on her band, the soon-to-be-world-famous Pussycats. It’s all weighing heavily on Archie’s mind – as is his fractured friendship with budding writer and fellow classmate Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse from The Suite Life on Deck). Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart from The Kings of Summer) is anxious to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. And Betty’s nerves – which are hardly soothed by her overbearing mother Alice (Mädchen Amick from Twin Peaks) aren’t the only thing holding her back. When a new student, Veronica Lodge (newcomer Camila Mendes), arrives in town from New York with her mother Hermione (Marisol Nichols from Teen Wolf and NCIS), there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie, even though Veronica doesn’t want to risk her new friendship with Betty by making a play for Archie. And then there’s Cheryl Blossom (newcomer Madelaine Petsch), Riverdale’s Queen Bee is happy to stir up trouble amongst Archie, Betty, and Veronica, but Cheryl is keeping secrets of her own. What, exactly, is she hiding about the mysterious death of her twin brother, Jason? Riverdale may look like a quiet, sleepy town, but there are dangers in the shadows.

Joining his team on high-risk missions around the globe is maverick former CIA agent Lincoln (George Eads from CSI). Doubt stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis, a brilliant attorney at a boutique firm who starts to fall for her charismatic client, Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale from Rescue Me), an altruistic pediatric surgeon recently accused of murdering his girlfriend 24 years ago. Sadie is hiding her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill from Psych and The West Wing), who thinks he knows everything about her. Working on other cases at the practice is Cameron Wirth (Laverne Cox from Orange Is the New Black), a transgender Ivy League graduate who fights passionately for her clients since she’s experienced injustice first hand; Tiffany Simon (Dreama Walker from The Good Wife and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23), a second-year associate who is quickly learning the ropes from Wirth; and Nick (Kobi Libii from Madam Secretary), a former felon who earned his degree while serving time. They all consider it a privilege to work for Isaiah Roth (veteran actor Elliott Gould), a revered legal lion and “lefty” legend, whose approval is their holy grail. Sadie’s decision to become involved with her client could put her career, as well as her happiness, at risk if Billy is found guilty, which means she needs to work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even if she has some herself.
Training Day is a crime thriller that begins 15 years after the events of the feature film, about a young, idealistic police officer who is tapped to go undercover in an elite squad of the LAPD where he partners with a veteran, morally ambiguous detective. Detective Frank Rourke (film star Bill Paxton) is the maverick head of the Special Investigation Section (S.I.S.) that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals, and is one of the finest investigators the department has ever produced. However, when the LAPD brass notices Rourke’s penchant for operating in a gray area to fight the war on crime, they assign Kyle Craig (newcomer Justin Cornwell), a heroic, untarnished cop, to pose as Frank’s trainee to spy on him and report on his off-book methods. The members of Frank’s loyal team include Rebecca Lee (Katrina Law from Arrow), a formidable officer with killer aim and a dark past, and Tommy Campbell (Drew Van Acker from Pretty Little Liars), a former pro surfer who follows Frank’s orders without hesitation. Providing Frank with intel is his girlfriend, Holly Butler (Julie Benz from Defiance and Dexter), a well-connected, unapologetic Hollywood madam. While LAPD Deputy Chief Joy Lockhart (Marianne Jean-Baptiste from Blindspot) coolly puts Kyle in danger in her mission to take down Frank, Kyle’s schoolteacher wife, Alyse (Lex Scott Davis from Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart), worries her husband’s resolve to avenge the murder of his father, a cop, may be his undoing. As Frank starts teaching his principled trainee the way of the streets, where the ends often justify the means, they form an uneasy alliance that will irrevocably change the course of both their lives.
The debut of the new drama Preacher will air on AMC at 10 PM on May 22.
Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s popular ’90’s comic book franchise of the same name, this 10-episode series is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power.
The cast includes Ruth Negga (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Lucy Griffiths (Robin Hood) and Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen).

Time After Time delivers a fantastical cat and mouse adventure through time when famed science fiction writer H.G. Wells is transported to modern day Manhattan in pursuit of Jack the Ripper. Once H.G. arrives in New York City, he finds a world he never thought possible and a young woman who captivates him. The cast includes Freddie Stroma (UnREAL), Josh Bowman (Revenge), Genesis Rodriguez (Big Hero 6) and Regina Taylor (Dig).

American Crime will return for a third season with Regina King reprising her role that will feature a new crime committed in a different setting, as told through the eyes of those affected.
When We Rise chronicles the real-life personal and political struggles, setbacks and triumphs of a diverse family of LGBT men and women who helped pioneer one of the last legs of the U.S. Civil Rights movement from its turbulent infancy in the 20th century to the once unfathomable successes of today. The cast includes Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3), Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) and Rachel Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters).
Dirty Dancing, based on the original feature film, will be a three-hour musical event adaptation of the 1987 romantic drama and instant music classic. The cast includes Abigail Breslin (Scream Queens), Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek and National Treasure 2), Nicole Scherzinger (The X-Factor), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) and Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars).
Lethal Weapon – The series, based on the box office franchise, follows iconic cop duo Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford from Rectify) and Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr. from My Wife and Kids), as they work a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. 24: Legacy (Mondays at 8 PM) – The series will chronicle the adrenaline-fueled race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil. Six months ago in Yemen, an elite squad of U.S. Army Rangers, led by Sergeant Eric Carter (Corey Hawkins from Straight Outta Compton), killed terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. In the aftermath, Bin-Khalid’s followers declared a fatwah against Carter, his squad and their families, forcing them into federal witness protection. The cast includes Miranda Otto (Homeland), Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue), Teddy Sears (The Flash), Anna Diop (The Messenger) and Sheila Vand (State of Affairs).
APB (Mondays at 9 PM) – This series is about the over-extended and under-funded Chicago Police Department as it spirals out of control. Enter billionaire engineer Gideon Reeves (Justin Kirk from Weeds), who puts up millions of his own money, making an unprecedented deal to take over the troubled 13th District – and reboot it as a private police force: better, faster and smarter than anything seen before. The cast includes Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome and Kingdom), Ernie Hudson (The Crow), Taylor Handley (The O.C.), Caitlin Stasey (Reign) and Eric Winter (Witches of East End).
Pitch (Tuesdays at 9 PM) – The series tells the dramatic and inspirational story of a young pitcher Ginny Baker (Kyle Bunbury from Under the Dome and Twister), who is vaulted into instant fame when she’s called up by the San Diego Padres to make her Major League debut. The cast includes Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Franklin & Bash), Ali Larter (Legends and Heroes), Mark Consuelos (All My Children) and Dan Lauria (The Wonder Years).
Shots Fired (Wednesdays at 8 PM) – The 10-hour event series takes an explosive look at the criminal justice system. When an African-American police officer kills an unarmed white college student, a small town in North Carolina is turned upside-down. Before the town has a chance to grapple with this tragedy, the neglected murder of an African-American teen is brought to light, re-opening wounds that threaten to tear the town apart. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan (The Perfect Guy), Stephan James (Race and Selma), Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Will Patton (Falling Skies) and Tristan Wilds (90210).
Star (Wednesdays at 9 PM) – The series focuses on three talented singers (newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady), desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success.
Prison Break (Thursdays at 9 PM) – This event is about what happens when clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) may be alive reunite to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever. Returning cast members also include Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar and Paul Adelstein. They will be joined by Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) and Rick Yune (Marco Polo).

The new dramas that will debut later in the season include:
The Blacklist: Redemption – This spin-off series will focus on undercover operative Tom Keen who joins forces with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave (Famke Janssen), the brilliant and cunning chief of Grey Matters, a covert mercenary organization that solves problems governments don’t dare touch. While on the hunt for Liz’s attacker, Tom secretly discovered that Scottie is actually his biological mother. Now, as they team up to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past. The cast will include Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress.
Chicago Justice – The latest installment will focus on the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on while fearlessly pursuing justice. As they take on the city’s high stakes and often media-frenzied cases, they must balance public opinion, power struggles within the system and their unwavering passion for the law. It all starts with a gut-wrenching case when one of Chicago’s finest is shot in the line of duty. The cast includes Philip Winchester (Strike Back and The Player), Carl Weathers (Colony), Nazneen Contractor (Heroes Reborn and Covert Affairs) and Joelle Carter (Justified).
Emerald City – In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale (newcomer Adria Arjona from Person of Interest) and a K9 police dog are swept into a world far removed from our own – a mystical land of competing realms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil) will play the Wizard and other cast members include Isabel Lucas (Home and Away) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Dracula and Mr. Selfridge).
Midnight, Texas – Based on the hit book series from author Charlaine Harris (True Blood) comes a journey into a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem. From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family. The cast includes François Arnaud (The Borgias and Blindspot), Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black and Heroes Reborn), Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries), Sarah Ramos (Parenthood), Peter Mensah (Sleepy Hollow) and Yul Vazquez (The Lottery).
Taken – This series will follow the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen from Vikings) [from the box office franchise that stars Liam Neeson] as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As he fights to overcome the incident and exact revenge, Mills is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. The cast includes Jennifer Beals (Proof), Michael Irby (The Unit), Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights and Grey’s Anatomy) and Monique Gabriela Curnen (The Following).
The new FOX drama Houdini & Doyle will debut on May 2 at 9 PM.
Inspired by true events, the series follows two real-life friends Harry Houdini (Michael Weston), master magician, escape artist and paranormal debunker; and Arthur Conan Doyle (Stephen Mangan), prolific writer, creator of Sherlock Holmes and paranormal aficionado.
They grudgingly join forces with New Scotland Yard to investigate unsolved, inexplicable and possibly supernatural crimes, alongside the first female Constable of the London Metropolitan Police Force, Adelaide Stratton (Rebecca Liddiard).
On April 19, the new thriller Containment will debut on The CW at 9 PM.
Based on the original Belgian series “Cordon,” this thriller focuses on what happens when a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta, which causes a vast urban quarantine to be enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives and federal officials desperately searching for a cure.
The cast includes Chris Wood (The Carrie Diaries and The Vampire Diaries), Claudia Black (Farscape and Stargate SG1) and David Gyasi (Interstellar).
