The Canadian drama The Porter will make its US debut on BET+ online on May 5.

Inspired by real events and set in the roar of the 1920s, the series follows the journeys of an ensemble of characters who hustle, dream, cross borders and pursue their ambitions in the fight for liberation – on and off the railways that crossed North America.

The cast includes Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Ronnie Rowe Jr. (Star Trek: Discovery), Mouna Traoré (Self Made, The Umbrella Academy) and Alfre Woodard.

On May 5, the HBO Max limited series The Staircase will debut online.

Based on a true story, the series will explore the life of Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), his sprawling North Carolina family and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson (Toni Collette).

The new sci-fi drama Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will debut online on May 5 on Paramount+.

The spin-off will be based on the years Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise, as the crew explores new worlds around the galaxy.

The new 8-episode Apple TV+ drama Shining Girls will debut online on April 29.

Based on Lauren Beukes’ best-selling novel, “Shining Girls” follows Kirby Mazrachi (Elisabeth Moss) as a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after enduring a traumatic assault. When Kirby learns that a recent murder mirrors her own case, she partners with seasoned, yet troubled reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura), to uncover her attacker’s identity. As they realize these cold cases are inextricably linked, their own personal traumas and Kirby’s blurred reality allow her assailant to remain one step ahead.

The cast includes Amy Brenneman, Phillipa Soo and Jamie Bell.

On April 28, the limited series Under the Banner of Heaven will debut online on FX on Hulu.

Show Synopsis: The limited series, inspired by the true crime best-seller by Jon Krakauer, follows the events that led to the 1984 murder of Brenda Wright Lafferty (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her baby daughter in a suburb in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah. As Detective Jeb Pyre (Andrew Garfield) investigates events that transpired within the Lafferty family, he uncovers buried truths about the origins of the LDS religion and the violent consequences of unyielding faith. What Pyre, a devout Mormon, unearths leads him to question his own faith.

The series also stars Gil Birmingham, Rory Culkin, Sam Worthington and Wyatt Russell.

The series will be based on Albert S. Ruddy’s (to be played by Miles Teller) extraordinary, never-before-seen experiences of making the box office movie The Godfather.

On April 24, the small screen adaptation of The Man Who Fell to Earth will air two back-to-back episodes at 10 and 11 PM on Showtime.

Inspired by the Walter Tevis novel of the same name and the iconic David Bowie film, the series will follow a new alien character (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. Naomie Harris will play Justin Falls, a brilliant scientist and engineer who must conquer her own demons in the race to save two worlds.

The cast includes Bill Nighy, Clarke Peters, Jimmi Simpson and Kate Mulgrew.

This series will tell the story of American outlaw Billy the Kid (Tom Blyth) [also known as William H. Bonney] from his humble Irish roots, to his early days as a cowboy and gunslinger in the American frontier, to his pivotal role in the Lincoln County War and beyond.

On April 24, the new drama Gaslit will debut at 8 PM on Starz.

This limited series is a modern take on Watergate that focuses on the untold stories and forgotten characters of the scandal – from Nixon’s bumbling and opportunistic subordinates to the deranged zealots aiding and abetting their crimes to the tragic whistleblowers who would eventually bring the whole rotten enterprise crashing down. The story will center on Martha Mitchell (Julia Roberts).

A big personality with an even bigger mouth. Martha is a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to Nixon’s loyal Attorney General, John Mitchell (Sean Penn). Despite her party affiliation, she’s the first person to publicly sound the alarm on Nixon’s involvement in Watergate, causing both the Presidency and her personal life to unravel.

The ensemble cast includes Shea Whigham, Patton Oswalt, Dan Stevens, Nate Corddry, Raphael Sbarge, Reed Diamond, Nat Faxon, Chris Messina, Brian Geraghty, Allison Tolman, Anne Dudek and Betty Gilpin.
