Franklin & Bash

TNT will debut their new drama Franklin & Bash on June 1 at 9 PM.

The series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (NYPD Blue) as Peter Bash and Breckin Meyer (Road Trip) as Jared Franklin, two fly-by-the seat-of-their-pants lawyers who catch the attention of Stanton Infeld (the legendary Malcolm McDowell), who runs one of the top law firms in Los Angeles. Infeld ends up recruiting the pair to bring fresh energy to the firm. But that decision doesn’t sit well with Infeld’s nephew (Reed Diamond).

Other cast members include Garcelle Beauvais (NYPD Blue) and Dana Davis (Heroes).

Here is a video clip for Franklin & Bash.

Now that the networks are providing year-round programming, TV viewers are getting the chance to see a wide array of programming be it on the major or cable networks. This summer there are a number of returning favorites as well as some interesting new shows getting ready to hit the airwaves.

There will be familiar faces on these new shows as well as some up-and-coming actors and actresses for whom we should all play a little extra attention to because they just might become the next “It” girl or guy.

The following – in no particular order – are some of the faces of 2011 summer TV that I think viewers should pay closer attention to:

Tyler Posey and Crystal Reed

Tyler Posey and Crystal Reed appear in the new MTV series Teen Wolf. This much darker look at teenage werewolves (much unlike the 1980’s box office movie for which this series is very loosely based), stars Tyler in the lead role of Scott McCall, a high school student bitten by an animal only to learn it was a werewolf. That animal attack has now forever changed his life and the lives of those around him, including the new girl in school Allison (Crystal Reed) whose father just happens to be a werewolf hunter. Teen Wolf will have its two-night premiere on June 5 and 6 (check your local listings for airtimes).

Drew Roy

Where Have You Seen Them Before – Tyler was Jennifer Lopez’s little son in the box office film Maid in Manhattan and he has starred in the TV shows Doc, Brothers & Sisters, Lincoln Heights and the made-for-TV movie Into the West. Crystal is a relative newcomer with small roles in episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, CSI, CSI: NY and the box office movie Skyline. She will also soon be seen in the upcoming box office film Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Seychelle Gabriel

Drew Roy and Seychelle Gabriel are among the cast of the upcoming alien invasion series Falling Skies that will have a 2-hour debut on TNT on June 19. Drew plays Hal Mason, the oldest of three sons to former history professor Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), who are part of a small band of survivors of a horrific alien invasion of Earth. Seychelle plays Lourdes, one of the other teen survivors.

Katie Leclerc

Where Have I Seen Them Before – Drew is best known to young viewers for his role on Hannah Montana, but he also appeared in the box office movie Secretariat and in the TV series Lincoln Heights. Meanwhile, Seychelle appeared in the box office films The Last Airbender and The Spirit as well as several episodes of Weeds.

Sean Berdy

Katie Leclerc and Sean Berdy are both talented hearing-impaired actors who will be star in the new ABC Family Channel series Switched at Birth, which debuts on June 6. Katie plays Daphne Vasquez, one of two babies who were inadvertently switched at birth, learning the truth of her origins at the age of 15. Sean plays Emmett, the son of Daphne’s mother’s best friend.

Where Have I Seen Them Before – Sean is a relative newcomer who has been acting since he was a little boy as a comedian and live performer. Meanwhile Katie is also fairly new, but she has appeared in small roles in Veronica Mars, The Ex List and The Riches.

Skyler Samuels and Benjamin Stone

Skyler Samuels and Benjamin Stone are two of the cast members of another new series from the ABC Family Channel called The Nine Lives of Chloe King, which debuts on June 14 (after the return of Pretty Little Liars). Skyler plays lead character Chloe King, who starts developing heightened abilities and learns she’s part of an ancient race which has been hunted by human assassins for millennia. Benjamin plays Alek Petrov, who is also from this ancient race and tries to help Chloe comes to terms with her new life.

Where Have I Seen Them Before – Skyler was one of the cast members of last summer’s TV show The Gates, but she also made guest appearances on the TV shows That’s So Raven and Wizards of Waverly Place as well as the box office movies The Stepfather and Furry Vengeance. Benjamin appeared in several episodes of the short-lived TV series 10 Things I Hate About You and did voice work on video games for the Harry Potter franchise.

Laura Mennell

Laura Mennell and Warren Christie are two of the actors in the new Syfy series Alphas that focuses on a group of ordinary citizens with extraordinary mental and physical abilities. Laura plays Nina Theroux and Warren plays Cameron Hicks. Alphas debuts on July 11 after the returns of Eureka and Warehouse 13.

Warren Christie

Where Have I Seen Them Before – Laura has guest starred in episodes of countless shows such as Smallville, Sanctuary, Supernatural, Fringe, Eureka, Blood Ties, The 4400, Stargate: Atlantis and Dead Like Me. She has also appeared in the made-for-TV movies Flight 93, Fallen and Montana Sky (based on the Nora Roberts novel) and the box office films Watchmen, Thir13en Ghosts and Trick ‘r Treat. Meanwhile, Warren was one of the cast members of October Road and the short lived series Happy Town. He also had guest appearances in Supernatural, The L Word, Battlestar Galactica, Ghost Whisperer and Flashpoint. He has appeared in the made-for-TV movies The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Malibu Shark Attack, 10.5, Lucky 7 and Three Weeks, Three Kids.

Alexandra Chando

Alexandra Chando and Alice Greczyn appear in the new ABC Family Channel series The Lying Game, based on the books by Sara Shepard (who is also the author of the Pretty Little Liars series of books). Alexandra plays the dual role of Emma and Sutton, identical twin sisters who were mysteriously separated, with one of the twins ending up a foster kid and the other being adopted by a wealthy family. Alice plays the role of Madeline otherwise known as “Mads” who is one of Sutton’s friends from school. This new show is set to debut on August 15.

Alice Greczyn

Where Have I Seen Them Before – Alexandra is best known to soap opera viewers for her role in As the World Turns, but she also appeared in the web series Rockville CA and in episodes of Medium and the short-lived series Glory Daze. Meanwhile, Alice has appeared in Lincoln Heights, Privileged and Make It or Break It as well as the short-lived series The Quintuplets and Windfall. She was also in the films Sleepover and The Dukes of Hazzard.

Keep your eyes on these actors and actresses, as they could easily become some of the next “It” boys and girls. Mark your calendars for the debuts of these shows too.

Yes, you read that correctly!

Today, May 25, is Geek Pride Day or International Geek Day if you are following some of the posts at Twitter.

What is Geek Pride Day? Well, it is an initiative to promote geek culture, with the date of May 25 chosen as a way to commemorate the release of the first Star Wars film, A New Hope on May 25, 1977. But it also shared the day with a few other geek “holidays” like Towel Day, for fans of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy trilogy by Douglas Adams, Star Wars Day, and the Glorious May 25 for fans of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. The initiative originated in Spain in 2006 as “Orgullo Friki” and spread around the world via the internet.

Specifically speaking today is “a non-denominational holiday to be celebrated by nerds and geeks who do not feel ashamed of showing their unconventional interests in public.”

If you are a geek, then here is the manifesto that was created to celebrate the first Geek Pride Day, which included the following list of basic rights and responsibilities:

Rights:

1. The right to be even geekier.
2. The right to not leave your house.
3. The right to not like football or any other sport.
4. The right to associate with other nerds.
5. The right to have few friends (or none at all).
6. The right to have as many geeky friends as you want.
7. The right to be out of style.
8. The right to show off your geekiness.
9. The right to take over the world.

Responsibilities:

1. Be a geek, no matter what.
2. Try to be nerdier than anyone else.
3. If there is a discussion about something geeky, you must give your opinion.
4. To save and protect all geeky material.
5. Do everything you can to show off geeky stuff as a “museum of geekiness.”
6. Don’t be a generalized geek. You must specialize in something.
7. Attend every nerdy movie on opening night and buy every geeky book before anyone else.
8. Wait in line on every opening night. If you can go in costume or at least with a related T-shirt, all the better.
9. Don’t waste your time on anything not related to geekdom.
10. Try to take over the world!

Have a fun Geek Pride Day (or International Geek Day – whichever you choose)!!

The full fall schedule for the major networks – ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW – for the 2011-2012 TV season have been announced. The following charts will show you night-by-night (except for Saturday) what you can expect to see this fall.

Please keep in mind these schedules could easily change before September when the season/series premieres will take place AND the schedules will also change in early 2012 for mid-season programming.

MONDAY: The new show Terra Nova (FOX) will be up against the newly moved Gossip Girl (The CW) while the once powerful House (FOX) will be pitted against newcomer Hart of Dixie (The CW). The 10 PM time slot will be full, once again, with Castle (ABC) and Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) going toe-to-toe with each other and the new period piece The Playboy Club (NBC) left to fend for whatever viewers it can.

TUESDAY: 90210 (The CW) will be moved to a new night and time going up against powerhouse NCIS (CBS) and Glee (FOX). There will be two new shows debuting on Tuesdays: Ringer (The CW) and Unforgettable (CBS) with both Parenthood and Body of Proof back for new seasons.

WEDNESDAY: The big comedy night will find the drama Harry’s Law (NBC) moving to a new night and time while new show Revenge (ABC) will take up at the 10 PM time slot and CSI (CBS) will move to its new night and time.

THURSDAY: The Secret Circle (The CW) will become the companion piece to The Vampire Diaries while the new shows Charlie’s Angels (ABC), Person of Interest (CBS) and Prime Suspect (NBC) all get plum Thursday night time slots.

FRIDAY: The “graveyard night” of TV will actually be a very busy night with perennial fan favorite Chuck (NBC) moving to its new night with new show Grimm (NBC) airing directly after. Meanwhile, Nikita (The CW) will move to its new night and time, competing against not only Chuck but also the new drama A Gifted Man (CBS). And, Blue Bloods (CBS) gets to keep its 10 time slot where it will, assuredly, cream the competition.

NOTE: Saturday’s schedule was skipped simply because the networks do not programming much of anything that night anymore.

SUNDAY: The new drama Once Upon a Time (ABC) will start a new tradition of 8 PM programming on the network (something that hasn’t been done for many an eon) while the new period piece Pan Am (ABC) will take over for the defunct Walker clan. Critically-acclaimed and fan-endorsed series The Good Wife (CBS) will move to its new night and time while football (for the time being) takes over NBC.

Get ready for an interesting fall!

NOTE: If you want to learn more about the new shows that will be airing this fall (as well as the new shows expected in early 2012), please check out the separate articles for ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW.

The B-Ring

If you are a fan of actress Catherine Bell (Army Wives and JAG), then you just might want to check out the details on the action-packed movie that she is hoping to get done with her director-husband Adam Beason.

Here are the details on the film straight from Kick Starter (What is Kickstarter, you ask? They are the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world.):

The B-Ring is an exciting female-driven sci-fi action film that harkens back to the great genre movies like Alien and The Terminator. In this story, all the action takes place aboard the All-Nations Endurance, a space freighter on a mission to save the Earth. As Earth’s energy stores drop to near total depletion, a team of the best and brightest were sent to harvest a precious new energy source discovered within the B-Ring of Saturn.

Catherine Bell plays Flight Engineer Roksana O’Neill. When a ruthless band of Marauders hijack the Endurance and (almost) kill the entire crew, she becomes Earth’s only hope for survival. The unsuspecting Bandits don’t know what they have on their hands when Roksana begins picking off their crew one by one. With a hidden skill-set derived from years of Black Ops missions around our shattered planet, Roksana wages her own private war in an effort to save her ship’s precious cargo and ultimately her family back home.

When it seems Roksana finally has the upper hand, the Raiders find another survivor (a young female engineer) and threaten things unimaginable if she doesn’t reveal herself. Now a captive of the murdering Outlaws, it looks as if Roksana will fail her mission…but she has an ally no one knows about. The ship itself. Designed to communicate with her, she uses the technology she created to escape her captors but not before learning who sponsored the bloody takeover.

To learn more about this project and how fans can have a hand in helping with pre-production, please visit their website. Make sure to check out the video at the top of the page too!
