The Pretender

Are any of you out there a fan of the NBC drama The Pretender? If so, you will want to read the following from the folks at Fanhattan:

“In the tale of The Pretender, Young Jarod (series star Michael T. Weiss) was taken against his will and held away from the world by forces larger then he was. Yet during his captivity he never gave up hope that his fate would be freedom one day – to return to the world to continue the amazing journey we call life.

The story (of bringing The Pretender back) is very similar. A little over a decade ago, forces larger than The Pretender and for reasons that really don’t matter, made a decision that kept the saga of The Pretender locked away from the world – just like Jarod was.

We know you loyal fans were disappointed by this and yes, so were we. There was so much more to The Pretender that all of you wanted to know and that we wanted to explore.

But there is good news. Just like Jarod who, after years of confinement, finally escaped The Centre and ran away to be free. Well now, so has the The Pretender itself. After being locked away for so many years, The Pretender is finally free to return to the world and continue life’s adventure.

As fate would have it, we have regained the rights to give The Pretender the Rebirth it deserves. We can now reinvigorate The Pretender for as long as you want – and no one can ever lock it or Jarod away again.

After thinking long and hard about the best way to bring the The Pretender back into the world, we’ve come up with several different ways to reawaken our much-loved saga for both faithful fans and new fans alike.

First, The Pretender will be reborn as a series of novels enabling us to delve much deeper into the characters’ hearts, minds, souls and lives in a revealing way that the limitations of a weekly TV series could never allow for.

Second, we’ll add graphic novels to the mix, fleshing out even more provocative details of the early years of Jarod, Miss P, The Centre and so much more. All of which will lead to…

Third, live action – be it cable/broadcast TV, a Netflix model series and/or a series of Pretender feature films – The Pretender will be taken to a whole new level with familiar faces and new characters as well.

You have always been loyal to The Pretender and we want you to know that we’ll always be loyal to you. The Pretender has found freedom – and an amazing journey into life is about to begin again!”

How exciting is this news?!

William Collins is a man upon whom the face of undeserved fortune has smiled. Despite his notable shortcomings of mind and character, he has secured for himself a comfortable living as the rector of Hunsford parish, and a humane and sensible wife. He also looks forward to the day when he shall inherit a tidy estate in Hertfordshire. Until then, he basks in the rarified light of Lady Catherine de Bourgh’s patronage, a place where he can sample, albeit vicariously, the wealth and consequence he secretly yearns for. Perhaps Mr. Collins should be satisfied, yet he cannot help hungering for a slightly higher style of living than his pocket currently supports. After all, a simple country parson cannot afford to put a fine cut of meat on his table every day, but his esteemed patroness can. When, over the strenuous objections of his wife Charlotte, Mr. Collins induces Lady Catherine to send a joint of mutton to the parsonage, little does he suspect that tasty meal will be his last.
