Much like the Faces of 2014, there are always entertainers of note to be on the look-out for in the new year or those who made great waves throughout the current year who will, undoubtedly, be big stars in the new year.

Robin Lord Taylor

Robin Lord Taylor – Robin’s first big break came via the film Accepted then he appeared in episodes of Life on Mars, Law & Order, Person of Interest, The Good Wife and The Walking Dead and he also appeared in the films Another Earth. Tobey Kebbell

Tobey Kebbell

Toby Kebbell – Toby has appeared in the box office films Alexander, Match Point, RocknRolla, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, War Horse and The Counselor. Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot – Film goers may recognize Gal from her role in the Fast & Furious franchise or possible from the small screen in the extremely short-lived series The Beautiful Life, but it is her casting as Wonder Woman in the upcoming film Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that will turn heads. She is also set to appear in the Wonder Woman stand-alone film (there is FINALLY going to be one!!) and the 2017 Justice League film.

Are there any actors or actresses who you think are the faces to watch in 2014? Please share.

Lizzie Bennet Book

The following is a verbatim article from the folks at Pemberley Digital, the fictional company run by William Darcy in the successful (and Emmy winning) web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries regarding the soon to be released The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet, which will be published on July 1, 2014 and available for pre-order via various outlets such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iBookstore and more:

A modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice based on the Emmy Award-winning phenomenon, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

There is a great deal that goes into making a video blog. Lizzie Bennet should know, having become a YouTube sensation over the course of her year-long video diary project. The Lizzie Bennet Diaries chronicled Lizzie’s life as a twenty-four-year-old grad student, struggling under a mountain of student loans and living at home with her two sisters—beautiful Jane Bennet and reckless Lydia Bennet. What may have started as her grad student thesis grew into so much more, as the videos came to inform and reflect her life and that of her sisters. When rich, handsome Bing Lee comes to town, along with his stuck-up friend William Darcy, things really start to get interesting for the Bennets—and for Lizzie’s viewers. Suddenly Lizzie—who always considered herself a fairly normal young woman—was a public figure. But not everything happened on-screen. Luckily for us, Lizzie kept a secret diary. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet provides more character introspection as only a book can, with revelatory details about the Bennet household, including Lizzie’s special relationship with her father, untold stories from Netherfield, Lizzie’s thoughts and fears about life after grad school and becoming an instant web celebrity.

Written by Bernie Su, the series’ executive producer, co-creator, head writer, and director, along with Kate Rorick, the novelist, TV writer, and consulting producer on the series, the novel features a journal-entry format and design, complementing the existing web series, while including plenty of fresh twists to delight fans and new readers alike. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet expands on the phenomenon that captivated a generation and reimagines the Pride and Prejudice story like it’s never been done before.

Lizzie and Darcy

The following comes verbatim from TubeFilter.com about The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet: A Novel, a new companion piece to the wildly popular online web series The Lizzie Bennet Diaries:

It has been almost a year since The Lizzie Bennet Diaries released its final installment, but interest in the vlog-style retelling of Pride and Prejudice is still high. In order to appease the series’ vociferous fans, LBD creator Bernie Su has teamed up with writer Kate Rorick and publisher Touchstone for The Secret Diary Of Lizzie Bennet: A Novel, a companion to the Emmy-winning web series.

The Secret Diary will be released on July 1, 2014, and will feature a journal-style format similar to that of the web series it accompanies. Su and Rorick (who served as a consulting producer on LBD) will use the book as a canvas for revealing more information about Lizzie Bennet and her family. “The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet provides more character introspection as only a book can,” explains the book’s publisher, “with revelatory details about the Bennet household, including Lizzie’s special relationship with her father, untold stories from Netherfield, Lizzie’s thoughts and fears about life after grad school and becoming an instant web celebrity.”

Between new content, new format, and a promise of “fresh twists”, there’s a lot here to make The Secret Diary a must buy for LBD fans. The most exciting part, however, is that this is simply the first of a two-book deal; even after it has been digested, another one will be on its way. It is amazing that a completed web series still receives enough interest to justify two books, but that’s just par for the course for the LBD fandom.

You can see the piece at their site here too.

I don’t know about anyone else, but this is SO going on my “wish list” for this summer!!

Veronica Mars Movie Poster

hanks to the folks over at Variety, it has been announced that The CW will move forward with a digital spin-off to Veronica Mars.

There aren’t any details on who the spin-off will be centered around or when it will happen, but this is more great news for fans of the critically-acclaimed series that received over 5 million dollars to fund the much-anticipated Veronica Mars box office film that is set to open in theatres on March 14.

The following is verbatim from an article over at E! Television’s Chris Harnick:

Rob Thomas has taken to Twitter to reveal which fan favorite will be at the center of the highly anticipated spinoff: Ryan Hansen aka fan favorite Dick Casablancas!

“The CW web series: a comedy featuring @HiRyanHansen attempting to put together a Dick Casablancas spin-off of #VeronicaMars. No Date yet,” Thomas wrote, before later clarifying it’s “Ryan as (a) version of Ryan trying to put together a Dick Casablancas series.”

Dating in LA and Other Urban Myths

Earlier this year, I wrote about a new female-themed online series Dating in LA and Other Urban Myths, based on the popular blog of the same name that can be found here] from writer/producer Patricia Steffy, that went into production with the pilot being shot over the summer.

My fellow blogger – you can find her site here and friend Danielle Turchiano, also known as DanielleTBD on Twitter, was the director of this pilot and she recently made a sizzle reel to spotlight the pilot with the hopes to build buzz to not only attract an audience but also to lock in distribution (sponsors and financiers) to help complete season one.

Dating in LA and Other Urban Myths will tell the story of Kate Holt (to be played by Steffy) who is lost. While Kate is an educated, successful business woman, she finds herself stymied when it comes to navigating the seemingly endless set of pitfalls inherent to the dating scene in Los Angeles. After all, no one comes to Los Angeles to find love, people here barely find like. Songs of found love are written about San Francisco or New York, not Los Angeles for a very good reason: L.A. is where dating comes to die.

Perhaps she has spent too much time wandering through literary realities, but as Kate begins her journey, she fervently longs for more formal times where intentions were declared before fluids were exchanged. And she would very much like to understand why a sane person, who would never pick up a hitchhiker, does not think twice about going home with a stranger met in a bar.

But these are the scenarios Kate is thrust into upon receiving an email from The EX proclaiming his joy at becoming engaged to someone he has known but briefly—a fact particularly difficult for Kate to reconcile given the decade she spent dating him.

Dating in L.A. and Other Urban Myths will follow Kate as she tries to accept the advice of her friends: she will now have to date in L.A. despite the reality that she is not 21, not a supermodel, and can’t comprehend why anyone thinks anal bleaching is good idea.

The cast of this new web series will also include actress Lesley Fera, best known for her recurring role of Veronica Hastings on the popular ABC Family drama Pretty Little Liars, as Penelope, a “no nonsense” type who thinks the world would be better off with less therapy and more common sense; General Hospital star Jen Lilley, who will play Chloe, a wholesome, unintentional self-saboteur with a flair for both the dramatic and the romantic; actor Kristoffer Polaha, best known for his recent work on Ringer and Life Unexpected, who will play Alex, an intelligent, handsome man who is incredibly supportive of his long-term, live-in girlfriend, Penelope (Lesley Fera); and actress Tamara Taylor, who has starred on the FOX drama Bones since 2006, who will play Sadie, a waitress/wannabe celebrity, who has a certain moral flexibility and is very matter of fact about what (and who) she wants in life.

Here is the sizzle reel for Dating in LA and Other Urban Myths.

You can also help spread the word about Dating in LA and Other Urban Myths by following the production on Twitter at @datinglaseries and on Tumblr here.
