Last night’s programming options on the major networks were, once again, filled with reality, repeats and news specials; but there were a few new episodes of Monday night dramas.

Here is how those dramas fared in the overall ratings last night:

9 PM Shows:

It’s hard to believe that May is now over, but it is and that means it’s time to go over the ratings in regards to cable dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that aired during the month.

Those ratings are all listed below:

CABLE DRAMAS

MONDAYS:

Bates Motel – The second season of the A&E thriller came to a close on May 5, earning 2.3 million viewers. The third season of Bates Motel will be back on A&E sometime next year.

Warehouse 13 – The long-running Syfy series aired its final three episodes (EVER!) during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 5 – 898,000 viewers
May 12 – 852,000 viewers
May 19 – 1.1 million (Series Finale)

This averages out 950,000 viewers for May.

Hit the Floor – The second season of the VH1 original series returned on May 26, earning 2.4 million viewers. A new episode of Hit the Floor aired on VH1 on June 2 with the next new episode set to air on June 9 at 9 PM.

TUESDAYS:

Fargo – The small screen adaptation of the box office film aired four episodes during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 6 – 1.7 million
May 13 – 1.6 million
May 20 – 1.8 million
May 27 – 1.5 million

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for May. A new episode of Fargo aired on FX on June 3 with the next new episode set to air on June 10 at 10 PM.

The Haves and Have Nots – The Oxygen drama returned for a second season starting on May 27, earning 1.2 million viewers. A new episode of The Haves and Have Nots aired on Oxygen on June 3 with the next new episode set to air on June 10 at 9 PM.

WEDNESDAYS:

The Americans – The FX period piece aired the final three episodes of its second season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 7 – 1.1 million
May 14 – 1.3 million
May 21 – 1.3 million

This averages out to 1.2 million viewers during May. The Americans was renewed by FX for a third season and will air sometime next year.

Rogue – The DirecTV drama returned for its second season starting on May 28, but ratings for that season premiere could not be tracked down. A new episode of Rogue aired on DirecTV on June 4 with another new episode set to air on June 11 at 10 PM.

THURSDAY:

There were no cable dramas airing on Thursdays in May.

FRIDAYS:

Continuum – The Syfy time-travel series aired five episodes of its third season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 2 – 762,000 viewers
May 9 – 624,000 viewers
May 16 – 979,000 viewers
May 23 – 935,000 viewers
May 30 – 663,000 viewers

This averages out to 793,000 viewers for May. A new episode of Continuum will air Syfy on June 6 at 9 PM.

SATURDAYS:

Orphan Black – The second season of the acclaimed BBC America series aired five episodes during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 3 – 304,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 10- 484,000 viewers
May 17 – 510,000 viewers
May 24 – 541,000 viewers
May 31 – 497,000 viewers

This averages out to approximately 467,000 viewers for May. The next new episode of Orphan Black will air on BBC America on June 7 at 9 PM.

Da Vinci’s Demons – The Starz period piece drama aired the final four episodes of its second season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 3 – 186,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 10 – 208,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 17 – 439,000 viewers
May 24 – Mini-marathon of previous episodes
May 31 – 254,000 (approximate average) [Season Finale]

This averages out to approximately 272000 viewers for May. Da Vinci’s Demons was renewed for a third season by Starz and that will air at some point in 2015.

SUNDAYS:

Drop Dead Diva – The Lifetime dramedy aired three more episodes from its sixth and final season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 1.5 million
May 11 – 1.2 million
May 18 – 1.3 million
May 25 – No episode aired

This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for May. A new episode of Drop Dead Diva aired on Lifetime on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 9 PM.

Game of Thrones – The HBO period piece drama aired three new episodes from its current fourth season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 7.2 million
May 11 – 6.4 million
May 18 – 7.2 million
May 25 – No episode aired

This averages out to 6.9 million viewers for May. A new episode of Game of Thrones aired on HBO on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 9 PM.

Turn – The new AMC period piece drama aired four episodes of its debut season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 1.2 million
May 11 – 1.1 million (approximate average)
May 18 – 1.1 million
May 25 – 1.4 million

This averages out to approximately 1.2 million viewers for May. A new episode of Turn aired on AMC on June 1 with the season finale set to air on June 8 at 9 PM.

Mad Men – The finale season of the AMC award-winning series aired four new episodes, including its mid-season finale during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 2.1 million
May 11 – 1.9 million
May 18 – 1.9 million
May 25 – 1.9 million (Mid-Season Finale)

This averages out to 2 million viewers for May. The remainder of the final season of Mad Men is expected to air on AMC sometime next spring.

Devious Maids – The Lifetime soap opera aired four new episodes of its second season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 1.6 million
May 11 – 1.7 million
May 18 – 1.5 million
May 25 – 1.8 million

This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for May. A new episode of Devious Maids aired on Lifetime on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 10 PM.

Signed Sealed Delivered – The new Hallmark Channel series aired four episodes of its debut season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 1.3 million (approximate average)
May 11 – 969,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 18 – 964,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 25 – 874,000 viewers (approximate average)

This averages out to approximately 1 million viewers for May. A new episode of Signed Sealed Delivered aired on the Hallmark Channel on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 8 PM.

Salem – The WGN America thriller aired four episodes of its debut season during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 4 – 440,000 viewers
May 11 – 319,000 viewers (approximate average)
May 18 – 500,000 viewers
May 25 – 322,000 viewers (approximate average)

This averages out to approximately 395,000 viewers for May. A new episode of Salem aired on WGN America on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 10 PM.

Penny Dreadful – The new Showtime period piece thriller debuted on May 11, airing three episodes during May. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:

May 11 – 1.4 million
May 18 – 722,000 viewers
May 25 – 734,000 viewers

This average out to 952,000 viewers for May. A new episode of Penny Dreadful aired on Showtime on June 1 with another new episode set to air on June 8 at 10 PM.

MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES

There were a little over a dozen made-for-TV movies and mini-series that aired on the cable networks during May. Here is a list of those movies/mini-series where ratings could be found (listed highest to lowest):

As the mid-season shows slowly burn off their remaining episodes and viewers wait for summer programming to hit into high gear, programming on Sunday night (at least on the major networks) was slow going last night.

During this short interim between the end of the 2013-2014 TV season and the start of summer programming, which will begin the week of June 9, there will be plenty of repeats and reality programming. That was the case, yet again, last night on the major networks.
