March is now at an end so it’s time to go over the ratings in regards to cable dramas, made-for-TV movies and mini-series that aired during the month.
Those ratings are all listed below:
CABLE DRAMAS
MONDAYS:
Teen Wolf – The MTV thriller aired the final four episodes of its third season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 2.1 million
March 10 – 1.8 million
March 17 – 2 million
March 24 – 2.3 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.1 million viewers for March. Teen Wolf will be back on MTV with an all-new season starting on June 23 at 10 PM.
Switched at Birth – The ABC Family drama aired the final four episodes of its third season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 1.6 million
March 10 – 1.4 million
March 17 – 1.2 million
March 24 – 1.3 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for March. Switched at Birth will be back with an all-new season on ABC Family on June 16 at 8 PM.
The Fosters – The ABC Family drama aired four the final four episodes of its debut season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 1.5 million
March 10 – 1.2 million
March 17 – 1.2 million
March 24 – 1.3 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers for March. The Fosters will return for its sophomore season on ABC Family on June 16 at 9 PM.
Lost Girl – The Syfy series aired five new episodes of its fourth season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 790,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 10 – 731,000 viewers
March 17 – 766,000 viewers
March 24 – 760,000 viewers
March 31 – 610,000 viewers
This averages out to 731,000 viewers for March. The season finale of Lost Girl will air on Syfy on April 7 at 10 PM and the ratings for that episode will be provided in next month’s report.
Being Human – The supernatural series aired five new episodes of its fourth and final season on Syfy during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 790,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 10 – 731,000 viewers
March 17 – 766,000 viewers
March 24 – 760,000 viewers
March 31 – 610,000 viewers
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers for March. The series finale of Being Human will air on Syfy on April 7 at 9 PM.
Bitten – The new Canadian series aired five more new episodes of its freshman season on Syfy during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 790,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 10 – 930,000 viewers
March 17 – 729,000 viewers
March 24 – 730,000 viewers
March 31 – 764,000 viewers
This averages out 789,000 viewers for March. The season finale of Bitten will air at 8 PM on Syfy.
Dallas – The TNT series aired five more new episodes of its third season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 1.9 million
March 10 – 2 million
March 17 – 1.8 million
March 24 – 1.9 million
March 31 – 1.8 million
This averages out 1.9 million for March. A new episode of Dallas will air on TNT on April 7 at 9 PM.
Bates Motel – The second season of the A&E thriller premiered on March 3, airing five episodes during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 3 – 3.1 million
March 10 – 2.2 million
March 17 – 1.8 million
March 24 – 2.2 million
March 31 – 2.3 million
This averages out 2.3 million for March. A new episode of Bates Motel will air on A&E on April 7 at 10 PM.
Those Who Kill – The new A&E thriller debuted on March 3, but it only aired two episodes before the network pulled it from the primetime line-up, earing 1.4 million viewers for its debut but then drastically dropping to 838,000 viewers for its second episode. The series, however, is being aired on Lifetime Movie Network. Check your local listings for airtimes and airdates.
The final episodes of the Canadian dramas Cracked and King both aired on March 3 on Reelz Channel, but – once again – ratings for both shows could not be tracked down.
TUESDAYS:
Pretty Little Liars – The ABC Family soap aired the final three episodes of its fourth season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 2.1 million
March 11 – 1.9 million
March 18 – 3.1 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.3 million viewers for March. The fifth season of Pretty Little Liars will air on ABC Family starting on June 10 at 8 PM.
Twisted – The ABC Family drama aired its final four episodes of its debut season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 1.1 million
March 11 – 1 million
March 18 – 1.1 million
March 25 – 726,000 viewers (Final Episode)
This averages out 707,000 viewers for March. Twisted has yet to be renewed for a second season by ABC Family.
The Haves and Have Nots – The Oxygen drama aired its remaining two episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 3 million
March 11 – 3.6 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for March. The Haves and Have Nots will return for its third season on Oxygen starting on May 27.
Justified – The FX drama aired four new episodes of its fifth season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 2.3 million
March 11 – 2.2 million
March 18 – 2 million
March 25 – 2.1 million
This averages out to 2.2 million viewers for March. A new episode of Justified aired on April 1 with the season finale set to air on FX on April 8 at 10 PM.
Rizzoli & Isles – The long-running TNT drama aired its final three episodes of its fourth season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 3.4 million
March 11 – 4.7 million
March 18 – 3.6 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.9 million viewers for March. Rizzoli & Isles will be back for a fifth season starting on June 17 on TNT at 9 PM.
Perception – The TNT drama aired the final three episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 4 – 1.7 million
March 11 – 2.4 million
March 18 – 1.8 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2 million viewers for March. Perception will be back for a third season starting on June 17 on TNT at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
Psych – The final four episodes of the long-running USA Network dramedy aired during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 5 – 1.6 million
March 12 – 1.4 million
March 19 – 1.5 million
March 26 – 1.9 million (Series Finale)
This averages out to 1.6 million viewers for March. A special after show aired immediately after the series finale called “Psych After Pshow” and that special earing 1 million viewers.
The Americans – The FX period piece aired four more episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 5 – 1.5 million
March 12 – 1.4 million
March 19 – 1.4 million
March 26 – 1.4 million
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for March. A new episode of The Americans aired on April 2 with another new episode set to air on April 9 on FX at 10 PM.
THURSDAY:
Vikings – The History Channel series aired four new episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 6 – 3.2 million
March 13 – 3.4 million
March 20 – 3.3 million
March 27 – 3.3 million
This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for March. A new episode of Vikings aired on April 3 with another new episode set to air on the History Channel on April 10 at 10 PM.
Suits – The USA Network legal drama returned with its mid-season premiere and aired four episodes during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 6 – 2.3 million
March 13 – 2.3 million
March 20 – 2.4 million
March 27 – 2.5 million
This averages out to 3.3 million viewers for March. A new episode of Suits aired on April 3 with the season finale set to air on the USA Network on April 10 at 9 PM.
FRIDAYS:
Helix – The new Syfy series aired its final four new episodes of its debut season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 7 – 1.3 million
March 14 – 1.2 million
March 21 – 1.2 million
March 28 – 1.7 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for March. A second season of Helix was ordered by Syfy, but an official start date has yet to be announced.
Banshee – The Cinemax drama aired its finale two episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 7 – 460,000 viewers
March 14 – 733,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 597,000 viewers for March. Banshee has been renewed for a third season by Cinemax, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.
SATURDAYS:
Black Sails – The new pirate drama aired the final three episodes of its debut season on Starz during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 1 – 847,000 viewers
March 8 – 700,000 viewers
March 15 – 762,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to approximately 770,000 viewers for March. Black Sails was renewed for a second season by Starz, but an official airdate has yet to be announced.
When Calls the Heart – The period piece drama aired the final five episodes of its debut season on the Hallmark Channel during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 1 – 1 million
March 8 – 1.6 million
March 15 – 1.2 million
March 22 – 1.4 million
March 29 – 1.7 million
This averages out to 1.4 viewers for March. The Hallmark Channel has yet to give When Calls the Heart a second season renewal.
Ripper Street – The BBC America period piece drama aired five new episodes of its second season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 1 – 265,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 8 – 248,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 15 – 180,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 22 – 249,000 viewers (approximate average)
March 29 – 200,000 viewers (approximate average)
This averages out to 359,000 viewers during March. A new episode of Ripper Street aired on BBC America on March 1 with another new episode set to air on March 8. Ratings for those episodes will be provided on next month’s report.
SUNDAYS:
True Detective – The HBO drama aired its final two episodes of its debut season during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 2 – 2.3 million
March 9 – 3.5 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.9 million for March. HBO has yet to official announce whether True Detective will have a second season or not.
The Walking Dead – The hit zombie drama aired its final five episodes of its fourth season on AMC during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 2 – 12.6 million
March 9 – 12.7 million
March 16 – 12.9 million
March 22 – 13.5 million
March 30 – 15.7 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.3 million for March. The Walking Dead will be back for a fifth season on AMC most likely in October.
Drop Dead Diva – The Lifetime dramedy returned for its sixth and final season on March 23 with a two-hour premiere; airing three episodes during March. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
March 23 – 1.1 million (Part 1 Season Premiere)
March 23 – 1.2 million (Part 2 Season Premiere)
March 30 – 1.2 million
This averages out to 1.2 million viewers. A new episode of Drop Dead Diva aired on April 6 with another new episode set to air on April 13 on Lifetime at 9 PM.
The Lifetime two-hour reunion special Army Wives: A Final Salute aired on March 16, earning approximately 1.1 million viewers.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES AND MINI-SERIES
There were about a handful of made-for-TV movies and one mini-series that aired on the cable networks during March. Here is a list of those movies where ratings could be found (listed highest to lowest):
A Trip to Bountiful (Lifetime) – 2.1 million
A Ring by Spring (Hallmark) – 1.7 million
The Grim Sleeper (Lifetime) – 1.4 million
Surrogate Sorority (Lifetime) – 1.4 million
