With April out of the way, it is time to review the ratings for the cable series that aired last month as well as the ratings for any made-for-TV movies that could be tracked down for April as well. Those ratings are all listed below:
CABLE SHOWS
MONDAYS:
Being Human – The final two episodes of the second season of the Syfy remake of the BBC original series aired during April. The ratings for those final episodes are as follows:
April 2 – 1.3 million
April 9 – 1.4 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers for the month. A new season of Being Human will be back on Syfy in January 2013.
Eureka – The final season of the popular Syfy series started on April 16, airing three episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 16 – 1.8 million
April 23 – 1.6 million
April 30 – 1.5 million
This averages out to 1.6 million viewers for the month. An all-new episode of Eureka will air on Syfy on Monday, May 7 at 9 PM.
Lost Girl – The final two episodes of the first season of Canadian hit series as well as the first three episodes of the second season aired during April. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
April 2 – 1 million
April 9 – 1.2 million (Season Finale)
April 16 – 1.1 million (Season Premiere – Season 2)
April 23 – 1.3 million
April 30 – 1.1 million
This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for the month. An all-new episode from the second season of Lost Girl will air on Syfy on Monday, May 7 at 10 PM.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager – The ABC Family drama actually returned with its season premiere on March 26 and aired five episodes throughout April. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
March 26 – 2.5 million (Season Premiere)
April 2 – 1.6 million
April 9 – 1.6 million
April 16 – 1.6 million
April 23 – 1.6 million
April 30 – 1.5 million
This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for the month. An all-new episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family will air on Monday, May 7 at 8 PM.
Make It or Break It – The gymnastic series from ABC Family also returned with a new season, starting on March 26 followed by five new episodes in April. The ratings for all of those episodes are as follows:
March 26 – 2.5 million (Season Premiere)
April 2 – 1.6 million
April 9 – 1.6 million
April 16 – 1.6 million
April 23 – 1.6 million
April 30 – 1.5 million
This averages out to 1.7 million viewers for the month. An all-new episode of Make It or Break It will air on ABC Family on Monday, May 7 at 9 PM.
TUESDAYS:
Justified – The final two episodes of the acclaimed FX series aired during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 3 – 2.5 million
April 10 – 2.7 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.6 million viewers for the month. A new season of Justified is expected to return to FX next year.
WEDNESDAYS:
Psych – The popular USA Network dramedy aired its final two episodes of the current season during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 4 – 2.6 million
April 11 – 2.7 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. Psych will be back on the USA Network next year.
The ratings for the BBC America series Whitechapel, which aired four new episodes in April, were not available.
FRIDAYS:
Fairly Legal – The USA Network drama aired four new episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 2.9 million
April 13 – 2.8 million
April 20 – 2.9 million
April 27 – 2.6 million
This averages out to 2.8 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Fairly Legal aired on the USA Network on Friday, May 4 with another new episode set to air on Friday, May 11 at 9 PM.
In Plain Sight – The USA Network drama aired four new episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 3 million
April 13 – 3.6 million
April 20 – 3.3 million
April 27 – 3 million
This averages out to 3.2 million viewers for the month. The series finale of In Plain Sight aired on Friday, May 4. The rating for that final episode will be provided in next month’s cable ratings article.
Magic City – This new Starz drama debuted on April 6, airing four episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 295,000 viewers
April 13 – 370,000 viewers
April 20 – 375,000 viewers
April 27 – 385,000 viewers
This averages out to 356,000 viewers for the month. A new episode of Magic City aired on Friday, May 4 and an all-new episode will air on Friday, May 11 at 10 PM.
SATURDAYS:
Being Human – The BBC America original supernatural series aired its final two episodes in April, but ratings were not available for either of those episodes.
SUNDAYS:
Army Wives – The Lifetime drama aired five new episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 1 – 2.6 million
April 8 – 3.1 million
April 15 – 2.9 million
April 22 – 3.2 million
April 29 – 2.8 million
This averages out to 2.9 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Army Wives will air on Lifetime on Sunday, May 6 at 9 PM.
The Client List – The new Lifetime drama debuted on April 8, airing four episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 8 – 2.8 million (Series Debut)
April 15 – 2.9 million
April 22 – 2.8 million
April 29 – 2.4 million
This averages out to 2.7 million viewers for the month. An all-new episode of The Client List will air on Lifetime on Sunday, May 6 at 10 PM.
The Killing – The AMC series was back for a second season starting on April 8. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 8 – 1.8 million (Season Premiere)
April 15 – 1.7 million
April 22 – 1.6 million
April 29 – 1.4 million
This averages out to 1.6 million viewers for the month. A new episode of The Killing will air on AMC on Sunday, May 6 at 9 PM.
Mad Men – Five new episodes of the AMC period piece aired during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 1 – 2.9 million
April 8 – 2.8 million
April 15 – 2.7 million
April 22 – 2.7 million
April 29 – 2.3 million
This averages out to 2.9 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Mad Men will air on AMC on Sunday, May 6 at 10 PM.
Game of Thrones – The HBO series returned with a second season on April 1, airing five episodes during April l. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 1 – 2.9 million
April 8 – 2.8 million
April 15 – 2.7 million
April 22 – 2.7 million
April 29 – 2.3 million
This averages out to 2.9 million viewers for the month. A new episode of Game of Thrones will air on HBO on Sunday, May 6 at 9 PM.
The Borgias – The period piece Showtime series returned for a second season on April 8, airing four episodes during April. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 8 – 604,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
April 15 – 534,000 viewers
April 22 – 509,000 viewers
April 29 – 579,000 viewers
This averages out to 557,000 viewers viewers for the month. A new episode of The Borgias will air on Showtime on Sunday, May 6 at 10 PM.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES
The following made-for-TV movies aired during the month of April:
The ABC mini-series Titanic aired for four hours in mid-May, earning 4.1 million viewers for the first three hours on May 14 and 4.2 million viewers for the final hour on May 15.
The Hallmark movie Undercover Bridesmaid aired in April, earning 2.4 million viewers.
Firefight, the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie that aired on ABC in April earned 7.7 million viewers.
The new Masterpiece Classic film Great Expectations aired on PBS at the beginning of the month, but ratings for the two-part airing could not be located.
The Hallmark Movie Channel aired the new film called Duke, but ratings for that film could not be located.
