It’s time to review the ratings for the cable dramas that aired during the entire month of September.
MONDAYS:
The Glades – The finale of this A&E police drama aired on a special night (Monday) September 5, earning 2.4 million viewers. There is still no word on whether the show has been picked up for a third season.
The Closer – The TNT crime drama aired its final two episodes for the summer during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – 7.2 million
September 12 – 6.2 million
This averages out to 6.7 million viewers. The series will be back with 6 new episodes starting on November 28.
Rizzoli & Isles – The TNT police drama also aired its final two episodes for the summer during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – 6.7 million
September 12 – 5.6 million
This averages out to 6.2 million viewers. The series will be back with 5 new episodes starting on November 28.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager – The season finale of the ABC Family series aired on September 5, earning 2.8 million viewers. The show is expected to return with new episodes in 2012.
Eureka – This popular Syfy series aired two new episodes during this time frame, including its season finale on September 19. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – No Episode Aired
September 12 – 1.9 million
September 19 – 1.9 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers. The show will be back in December with their holiday special episode and then will return next year for its final season.
Warehouse 13 – The Syfy drama aired two new episodes airing during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – No Episode Aired
September 12 – 1.9 million
September 19 – 1.8 million
September 26 – No Episode Aired
This averages out to 1.9 million viewers. The two-hour season finale aired on Monday, October 3 and those numbers will be provided in next month’s report. The show has been renewed for another season and will be back next year.
Alphas – This new Syfy series aired three new episodes during this time frame, including the extended season finale. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – No Episode Aired
September 12 – 1.5 million
September 19 – 1.4 million
September 26 – 1.2 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.4 million viewers. This series has been renewed for a second season and will be back sometime next year.
The Protector – The final two episodes of the Lifetime police drama aired on September 12 and 19; but no ratings were made available for either episode; and, the show was cancelled by the network right around the airing of what would be the series finale.
The Lying Game – The new ABC Family teen drama aired four new episodes during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 5 – 1.5 million
September 12 – 1.3 million
September 19 – 1.2 million
September 26 –1.1 million
This averages out to 1.3 million viewers. A new episode aired on Monday night (October 3) with the mid-season finale airing next Monday, October 10. The show recently received an additional 12 episodes, which are expected to air sometime next year.
TUESDAYS:
Sons of Anarchy – This FX drama returned for another season on September 6, airing 4 new episodes during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 6 – 4.9 million
September 13 – 3.7 million
September 20 – 3.4 million
September 27 – 3.3 million
This averages out to 3.8 million viewers. A new episode aired on October 4 and the ratings for that episode will be included in next month’s report. The next new episode will air on Tuesday, October 11.
WEDNESDAYS:
Necessary Roughness – The final two episodes of the new USA Network series aired during this time frame. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
September 7 –3.7 million
September 14 – 4 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.9 million viewers. The series will be back sometime next year for its second season.
Rescue Me – This FX series came to an end on September 7 when it aired its series finale, earning 2.3 million viewers.
Damages – Once again, the ratings for the DirecTV airing of the former FX series have not been easily located and cannot be provided here. The series aired its season finale on September 14. There is to be one more season of the series on DirecTV set for next year.
The Hour – The BBC America period piece aired its remaining episodes throughout most of September; but just like last month those numbers were not easy to locate. There has been word that the BBC is planning another set of episodes for The Hour, but on confirmation of how many or when they will air.
THURSDAYS:
Burn Notice – The popular USA Network spy drama aired its final two episodes during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 1 – 4.1 million
September 8 – 4.4 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.3 million viewers. Burn Notice will be back with new episodes, starting on November 3.
Suits – The new USA Network legal drama aired its remaining episode during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 1 – 3.9 million
September 8 – 3.5 million (Mid-Season Finale)
This averages out to 3.7 million viewers. The series will be back for a second season next year.
FRIDAYS:
Haven – The Syfy drama aired five episodes during this time frame, including its season finale. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 2 – 1.5 million
September 9 – 1.9 million
September 16 – 2 million
September 23 – 1.9 million
September 30 – 1.8 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 1.8 million viewers. There will be a holiday episode this December; but the network has yet to announce if they will renew the show for a third season.
Torchwood: Miracle Day – The final two episodes aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 2 – 699,000 viewers
September 9 – 640,000 viewers
This averages out to 670,000 viewers. There is no word from the network if a new season of the show will be picked up or not.
Strike Back – The explosive military-based Cinemax aired four new episodes during this time frame; but the ratings for each episode could not be located. There should be two remaining episodes set to air on October 7 and October 14 (please check local listings for airings).
SATURDAYS:
Doctor Who – The popular series aired four more new episodes during the time frame; but the ratings from BBC America is impossible to track down. The season finale aired on October 1.
SUNDAYS:
Drop Dead Diva – There were three new episodes during this time frame, including the season finale. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 4 – 1.9 million
September 11 – No episode aired
September 18 – 2.2 million
September 25 – 1.8 million (Season Finale)
That averages out to 2 million viewers. The series will be back with a new season next year.
Against the Wall – There were three episodes of this Lifetime police drama that aired during this time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 4 – 1.8 million
September 11 – No episode aired
September 18 – 1.9 million
September 25 – 1.3 million
This averages out to 1.7 million viewers. A new episode aired on Sunday, October 2 and those ratings will be provided in next month’s report. The next new episode is set to air on Sunday, October 9.
True Blood – The HBO series aired its final two episodes of the season during the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 4 – 4.4 million
September 11 – 5.1 million (Season Finale)
This averages out to 4.8 million viewers. The series will return for another season next year.
Breaking Bad – The AMC series aired another four episodes in the time frame. The ratings for each of those episodes are as follows:
September 4 – 2 million
September 11 – 1.9 million
September 18 – 1.8 million
September 25 – 1.6 million
This averages out to 1.8 million viewers. A new episode aired on Sunday, October 2 and those ratings will be provided in next month’s report. The season finale will air on Sunday, October 9. The series was picked up for one final season which is expected to air sometime next year.
Boardwalk Empire – The HBO period piece returned for a new season with its premiere on Sunday, September 25, earning 2.9 million viewers. A new episode aired on Sunday, October 2 and the ratings for that episode will be provided in next month’s report. The next new episode will air in Sunday, October 9.
