Rueben's Ramblings

The following are a number of TV related tidbits that have come up over the last couple of weeks that I wanted to share with all of you just in case you weren’t aware:

1. AMC has not renewed their conspiracy drama Rubicon for a second season. I can’t really say I’m surprised by this news as the show struggled every week to garner more than 1 million viewers each week and, unfortunately, it was the slowest moving conspiracy-laced story I have ever seen.

2. Castle received an order for 2 more scripts, bringing their episode total up to 24 for this TV season.

3. After airing only two episodes, which garnered 5.3 and 4.7 million viewers respectively, AMC has picked up The Walking Dead for a second season, ordering 13 episodes this time around. The current season only contains six episodes.

4. If you live in Canada and receive the Showcase channel, you just might want to check out the new show Lost Girl that debuted back in September. It’s getting enough buzz that despite it not airing here in the States it is on my radar. I hope that much like Being Erica is airing here in America thanks to SoapNet that one of the cable providers will pick Lost Girl up so the US audience can see what all the talk is about. In short the series is about a young woman named Bo (Anna Silk from Being Erica) who is a succubus. She grew up in an adopted human family, unaware of her non-human nature or the existence of the “Fae” (supernatural beings) world. Along the way to learning more about who she really is, she ends up with a werewolf boyfriend (of sorts), who also happens to be a police detective (Kris Holden-Reid from The Tudors and The Bridge) and a human sidekick named Kenzi (Ksenia Solo from Life Unexpected). 5. If you are looking answers to the Pretty Little Liars Secret Seekers, I am sorry, but I cannot help you. You will have to follow the clues that are given at the ABC Family website here and try your hand at figuring out the clues.

6. The ratings for the 3-part mini-series Sherlock that recently aired on PBS have been as elusive as some of the criminals Sherlock and Watson were tailing. I’ve done as much research as I can to find those details, but they simply have not been posted.

7. The results of the fan voting for the TV Guide cover for December 13 is being kept under lock and key by the folks at TV Guide. The winning cover will not be released until that issue hits newsstands. Be patient and wait for any spoilers that the folks at TV Guide might reveal.

8. Please don’t forget to check out new installments of, or get caught up on the whole web series, Riese: Kingdom Falling on Tuesday and Thursdays. You can watch the episodes here. If the series receives a sizeable amount of views, the network just MIGHT allow it to be picked up as a regular series much the same way Sanctuary was taken from a web series to a weekly TV series.

9. Despite still being touted as the number one new show of the fall, the CBS series (and remake of the classic) Hawaii Five-0 has slowly started to lose its number one status to its closest competitor: Blue Bloods. If the ratings for each of these shows are reviewed closely, Blue Bloods has beaten Hawaii Five-0 in nearly all of the last five airings. It is not a clear-cut victory, as the numbers are very close, but Blue Bloods is slowly encroaching on the number one title held by Hawaii Five-0.
