It’s that time again, to take a look at how the cable dramas and made-for-TV movies that aired in March fared in the ratings.
First, let’s take a look at the ratings for the dramas:
CABLE DRAMAS
MONDAYS:
The Secrets She Keeps – The 6-part 2020 limited series debuted on AMC on April 19, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 19 – 157,000 viewers (DEBUT)
April 26 – 118,000 viewers
This averages out to 138,000 viewers for April. New episodes aired on May 3 and May 10 with the final episode of The Secrets She Keeps set to air on AMC on Monday, May 17 at 11 PM
TUESDAYS:
Queen Sugar – The OWN drama aired the final three episodes from its 5th season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 586,000 viewers
April 13 – 690,000 viewers
April 20 – 662,000 viewers (Season Finale)
This averages out to 646,000 viewers for April. Queen Sugar will be back with a new season sometime this fall on OWN.
Delilah – The new OWN drama aired the final four episodes of its debut season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 332,000 viewers
April 13 – 323,000 viewers
April 20 – 320,000 viewers
April 27 – 275,000 viewers (Finale)
This averages out to 313,000 for April. Delilah has yet to be renewed for a second season by OWN.
Mayans M.C. – The Sons of Anarchy spin-off (so to speak) returned for the start of its third season on March 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 6 – 605,000 viewers
April 13 – 727,000 viewers
April 20 – 872,000 viewers
April 27 – 793,000 viewers
This averages out to 749,000 for April. A new episode of Mayans M.C. aired on May 4 with the season finale set to air on FX on Tuesday, May 11 at 10 PM.
Cruel Summer – The mystery thriller debuted with a two-episode premiere on Freeform on April 20, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 20 – 274,000 viewers (DEBUT – Hour 1)
April 20 – 218,000 viewers (DEBUT – Hour 2)
April 27 – 228,000 viewers
This averages out to 240,000 viewers for April. A new episode of Cruel Summer aired on May 4 with the next new episode set to air on Freeform on Tuesday, May 11 at 10 PM.
WEDNESDAYS:
Good Trouble – The Freeform drama aired three new episodes from its 3rd season, ending with its spring finale. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 7 – 123,000 viewers
April 14 – 148,000 viewers
April 21 – 186,000 viewers (Spring Finale)
This averages out to 152,000 viewers for April. The remainder of the 3rd season of Good Trouble is expected to return to Freeform sometime later this year.
Queen of the South – The 5th and final season of the USA Network crime drama premiered on April 7, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 7 – 687,000 viewers
April 14 – 656,000 viewers
April 21 – 562,000 viewers
April 28 – 766,000 viewers
This averages out to 668,000 for April. A new episode of Queen of the South aired on May 5 with the next new episode set to air on the USA Network on Wednesday, May 12 at 10 PM.
THURSDAYS:
There were no cable dramas airing on Thursday night during February.
FRIDAYS:
Wynonna Earp – The fan favorite Syfy horror series aired the last two episodes of its 4th and final season. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 2 – 201,000 viewers
April 9 – 278,000 viewers (Series Finale)
This averages out to 240,000 viewers for April.
Van Helsing – The 5th and final season of the Syfy thriller premiered on April 16, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 16 – 304,000 viewers (Season Premiere)
April 23 – 197,000 viewers
April 30 – 227,000 viewers
This averages out to 243,000 viewers for April. A new episode of Van Helsing aired on May 7 with the next new episode set to air on Syfy on Friday, May 14 at 10 PM.
SATURDAYS:
There were no cable dramas airing on Saturday night during February.
SUNDAYS:
When Calls the Heart – The Hallmark Channel drama aired four new episodes from its 8th season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 4 – 2.3 million viewers
April 11 – 2.6 million viewers
April 18 – 2.6 million viewers
April 25 – 2.7 million viewers
This averages out to 2.6 million viewers for April. A new episode of When Calls the Heart aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, May 9 at 9 PM.
City of a Hill – The Showtime drama now set in Boston in 1993 aired four new episodes from its second season during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 4 – 353,000 viewers
April 11 – 347,000 viewers
April 18 – 372,000 viewers
April 25 – 308,000 viewers
This averages out to 345,000 viewers for April. A new episode of City on a Hill aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on Showtime on Sunday, May 9 at 10 PM.
The Gloaming – The Australian cop drama limited series aired four new episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 4 – 75,000 viewers
April 11 – 38,000 viewers
April 18 – 79,000 viewers
April 25 – 90,000 viewers
This averages out to 71,000 viewers for April. A new episode of The Gloaming aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on Starz on Sunday, May 9 at 8:30 PM.
Fear the Walking Dead – The 6th season of the AMC zombie series returned with new episodes starting on April 11, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 11 – 1.2 million viewers (Return)
April 18 – 1.1 million viewers
April 25 – 1.1 million viewers
This averages out to 1.1 million viewers for April. A new episode of Fear the Walking Dead aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on AMC on Sunday, May 9 at 9 PM.
Gangs of London – The debut season of the crime drama premiered on AMC on April 4, airing four episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 4 – 656,000 viewers (DEBUT)
April 11 – 342,000 viewers
April 18 – 338,000 viewers
April 25 – 293,000 viewers
This averages out to 407,000 viewers for April. A new episode of Gangs of London aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on AMC on Sunday, May 9 at 11 PM (check your local listings for the actual start time).
The Nevers – The period piece fantasy series debuted on HBO on April 11, airing three episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 11 – 548,000 viewers (DEBUT)
April 18 – 561,000 viewers
April 25 – 448,000 viewers
This averages out to 519,000 viewers for April. A new episode of The Nevers aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on HBO on Sunday, May 9 at 9 PM.
Mare of Easttown – The HBO crime drama debuted on HBO on April 18, airing two episodes during the month. The ratings for those episodes are as follows:
April 18 – 600,000 viewers (DEBUT)
April 25 – 735,000 viewers
This averages out to 668,000 viewers for April. A new episode of Mare of Easttown aired on May 2 with the next new episodes set to air on HBO on Sunday, May 9 at 10 PM.
The Walking Dead – The mid-season finale of the long-running AMC zombie series aired on April 4, earning 2.1 million viewers. The remaining episodes of the 11th and final season of The Walking Dead will return to AMC on August 22.
Pennyworth – The period piece drama from EPIX focusing on Alfred Pennyworth aired its final two episodes of its second season during April, but no ratings could be tracked down. Pennyworth has yet to be renewed for a third season by EPIX.
Condor – The drama series that was exclusively aired for DirecTV subscribers aired four episodes during April, but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode of Condor aired on May 2 with the final episode set to air on EPIX on Sunday, May 9 at 9 PM.
Godfather of Harlem – The second season of the EPIX drama premiered on April 18, airing two episodes during the month, but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode of Godfather of Harlem aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on EPIX on Sunday, May 9 at 8 PM.
Atlantic Crossing – The limited series debuted on PBS on April 4, airing four episodes during the month, but no ratings could be tracked down. A new episode of Atlantic Crossing aired on May 2 with the next new episode set to air on PBS on Sunday, May 9 at 9 PM.
MADE-FOR-TV MOVIES
The following are the ratings for the made-for-TV movies that aired in April:
