The new Netflix series The Get Down will debut online on August 12.
The series follow a rag-tag crew of South Bronx teenagers in a broken down and beaten up, violent New York City at the brink of bankruptcy, which gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco – a story told through the lives and music of the South Bronx kids who changed the city, and the world forever.
The cast includes relative newcomers Justice Smith, Herizen Guardiola, Shameik Moore, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and T.J. Brown, Jr. as well as Skylan Brooks (Southpaw), Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue) and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad and Once Upon a Time).

The new movie Summer in the City will debut on the Hallmark Channel on August 13 at 9 PM. When a small town woman with Midwestern charm is given a big promotion managing a store in the Big Apple, she tries to adopt a big city personality and it leads to disastrous results. Realizing it’s better to be true to herself, she lets her personality shine and it becomes the secret to her success in work and in love. The film stars Julianna Guill (Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce), Marc Bendavid (Dark Matter), Vivica A. Fox and Marla Sokoloff.
And on August 14, the new Hallmark Channel series Chesapeake Shores will debut at 9 PM. Based on the best-selling books by Sherryl Woods, this multi-generational family drama focuses on Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory from Once Upon a Time), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, who makes a trip from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Her visit home brings Abby face to face with her past, including her high school sweetheart Trace (Jesse Metcalfe from Dallas), her uncompromising father Mick (Treat Williams from Everwood) and her esteemed grandmother Nell (Diane Ladd from Wild At Heart). Abby realizes the toll her career has taken on her ability to be a hands-on mother to her daughters, and considers a permanent move to Chesapeake Shores. The show will also star Barbara Niven (Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove).

The final day of the convention – Sunday, July 14 – was extremely light with only two panels on my agenda: the return of the FOX series Prison Break and the latest incarnation of the long-running FOX series 24 known this time around as 24: Legacy.

The third day of the convention – Saturday, July 23 – was a very full day for me, being in Ballroom 20 for 8 and 1/2 hours straight for the following panels (and several animation panels that I had absolutely NO interest in – thank God for my iPod and my laptop so I could write articles):
Once Upon a Time (thanks to Entertainment Weekly):

The Vampire Diaries, who announced the upcoming, 8th season will be the show’s last. Here is the goodbye video they aired during the panel:

As I mentioned in Part 1, on Saturday evening I sat in on the Riverdale panel as well as the moderated panel for the new drama Frequency that will air on The CW this fall. Yes, it’s the small screen version of the box office film with a twist: it will focus on a daughter and father.
