The 2011-2012 Fall TV season will officially begin on Tuesday (September 13) and while there are, as usual, a lot of new shows to be introduced, the following are perhaps the most anticipated new shows of the season:

Ringer

Ringer – The new CW series will debut on Tuesday (September 13 at 9 PM) and will see the return of Sarah Michelle Gellar to the network that essentially made her a household name. She will play identical twin sisters who are complete opposites; Bridget is an exotic dancer who witnessed a murder while Siobhan is the trophy wife of a wealthy New Yorker. Rather than testify to what she saw, Bridget goes on the run, hiding out in her twin’s life after Siobhan disappears out at sea, with Bridget as the only witness. The cast includes Kristoffer Polaha, Ioan Gruffudd, Tara Summers and Nestor Carbonell.

Revenge

Revenge – The new ABC series will premiere on September 21 at 10 PM and stars Emily Van Camp (from Brothers & Sisters and Everwood) as Emily Thorne, who is new to the Hamptons. She’s met some of her wealthy neighbors, has made a few new friends and seemingly blends into the town. But something is a little odd about a young girl living in a wealthy town all on her own, and the truth is that Emily isn’t exactly new to the neighborhood. In fact, this was once her old neighborhood, until something bad happened that ruined her family and their reputation. Now Emily is back, and she’s returned to right some of those wrongs in the best way she knows how – with a vengeance. The rest of the cast includes Madeleine Stowe, Gabriel Mann, Henry Czerny, Nick Wechsler, Ashley Madekwe, Josh Bowman, Christa B. Allen and Connor Paolo.

Terra Nova

Terra Nova – The new FOX series will debut on September 26 at 8 PM. The series follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149, the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped and overcrowded, with the majority of plant and animal life extinct. The future of mankind is in doubt, and its only hope for survival is in the distant past. When scientists unexpectedly discover a fracture in time that made it possible to construct a portal into primeval history, the bold notion is born to resettle humanity in the past – a second chance to rebuild civilization and get it right this time. The cast includes Shelley Conn, Christine Adams, Stephen Lang, Landon Liboiron, Allison Miller, Jason O’Mara and Naomi Scott.

Homeland

Homeland – The new Showtime series will premiere on October 2 at 10 PM and chronicles the discovery and return of MIA Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) after eight years in enemy confinement; but brilliant yet volatile CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) isn’t buying his story. She believes that Brody has been turned and is now working for Al Qaeda. What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse with nothing short of American national security at stake. Mandy Patankin and Morena Baccarin co-star.

Once Upon a Time

Once Upon A Time – The new ABC drama will debut on October 23 at 8 PM. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison) is a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who’s been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son (Jared Gilmore) she gave up years ago finds her, everything starts to change. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma’s help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world and is Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming’s (Josh Dallas) missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen’s (Lana Parrilla) curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Of course Emma doesn’t believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to his home in Storybrooke (Maine), she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. The cast includes Robert Carlyle, Jamie Dornan and Raphael Sbarge.

Again, there are many news show from which to choose this fall; but these are my suggestions for the best new shows to tune in and enjoy. Please share the shows that you are most looking forward to this fall.
