On December 31, the psychological drama film The Lost Daughter, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal – in her feature directorial debut – will debut on Netflix online.

A woman (Olivia Colman), while on a summer holiday, finds herself becoming obsessed with another woman and her daughter, prompting memories of her own early motherhood to come back and unravel her.

The film will also star Dakota Johnson, Peter Sarsgaard, Ed Harris, Paul Mescal, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Jack Farthing and Dagmara Domincyzk along with Jessie Buckley playing Coleman’s character as a younger woman.

The new Netflix drama series Stay Close will debut online on December 31.

The lives of a photojournalist, a soccer mom and a homicide detective are disturbed by a terrible event from the past in the British crime drama based on the 2012 Harlan Coben novel.

The cast includes Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage and Eddie Izzard.

While we have a few more months to go until season 6 of Outlander premieres (its back on March 6), a new video clip from the much-anticipated season has been released by its home network, Starz. In addition, the cable network has been releasing promo pictures for the new season, and it seemed only right – since it’s Christmas Day – to share all of those pictures along with the video clip.

On December 25, the Lifetime movie Writing Around the Christmas Tree will debut at 8 PM.

Mikaela (Krystal Joy Brown) a successful romance novelist who has had bad luck in love, visits a quaint bed and breakfast for a Christmas writers retreat near a snowy lake town each year. Upon arriving, she meets dashing writer Levi (Curtis Hamilton), who soon convinces Mikaela that she shouldn’t be writing about love if she doesn’t allow herself to get out and actually experience it.

On December 24, the Lifetime movie Hot Chocolate Holiday will debut at 8 PM.

Colette (Aubrey Reynolds) runs a coffee shop that is known for her secret hot chocolate. When Marcus (Jonny Swenson), a new dessert shop owner, starts to draw in Colette’s customers with his very own specialty hot chocolate that tastes exactly like the recipe from her beloved grandmother, she is determined to expose him. On December 22, the box office movie The Matrix: Resurrections will be available to view online on HBO Max.

Twenty years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions, Neo (Keanu Reeves) lives a seemingly ordinary life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco where his therapist prescribes him blue pills. Neither he nor Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss) recognize each other. However, Morpheus (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – originally played by Laurence Fishburne) offers him the red pill and reopens his mind to the world of the Matrix.

The cast includes Jessica Henwick and Jada Pinkett Smith as well as Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jones, Christina Ricci and Telma Hopkins.

The box office movie Being the Ricardos will be available to view online on Amazon on December 21.

Taking place over the course of a week during production of I Love Lucy, shocking personal accusations, a political smear and cultural taboos threaten the relationship between Hollywood power couple Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz (Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem).

The film also stars J. K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Linda Lavin, Jake Lacy, Clark Gregg, John Rubinstein and Robert Pine.

On December 19, the Lifetime holiday movie Under the Christmas Tree will debut at 8 PM.

Marketing whiz Alma Beltran (Elise Bauman) and Christmas tree whisperer Charlie Freemont (Tattiawna Jones) cross paths when Charlie finds the perfect tree for the Maine Governor’s Holiday Celebration — right in Alma’s back yard. While they initially spar, romantic sparks soon begin to fly between the two women as the enchanting tree and some Christmas fairy dust from the town’s pâtissière extraordinaire (Lake) bring out the best in them and spark each other to take leaps of faith and fight for love and Christmas magic.

On December 19, the CBS holiday movies Christmas Takes Flight will debut at 8 PM.

A holiday battle of wills between pilot Jenny Beckett (Katie Lowes) and Matt Connor (Evan Williams), a number-crunching CEO who purchases Jenny’s family-owned, regional airline. Matt’s cost-cutting initiatives threaten Christmas when he cancels the airline’s annual holiday charitable benefit for underserved children.

Determined to show Matt that the sweetest things in life are worth any price, Jenny rallies the community to help save the event and unexpectedly finds herself falling for the magnate in the process.
