The Intruders

Intruders will debut on BBC America on August 23 at 10 PM.

The series is about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others, focusing on Jack Whelan (John Simm from Doctor Who), a former LAPD cop with a troubled and violent history, who finds the quiet idyllic life he has crafted with his wife, Amy (Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino) shattered when she goes missing.

While Jack is consumed with an investigation, which threatens his very core, a sinister agent named Richard Shepherd (James Frain from True Blood) is embarking on a series of lethal executions. Meanwhile, a distraught little girl named Madison (Millie Brown from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland) runs away from home into a world of danger.

Summer Snow

The movie Summer Snow will debut on UP Channel on August 17 at 8 PM.

Hallie Benson (young actress Rachel Eggleston) is a small girl with a very big heart. Whether baking cookies for a grumpy neighbor or selling toothbrushes to help a friend, Hallie always thinks of others. Unfortunately, her “creative” ways of helping people often leave her father Dan with a mess to clean up.

Dan Benson (David Chisum) struggles to keep it all together after his wife’s death. He doesn’t cook, do hair or know how to help his three children without his beautiful wife and her unshakeable faith in God.

The cast includes Cameron Goodman, Garrett Backstrom and Brett Rice.

Stranded in Paradise

The Hallmark Channel movie Stranded in Paradise will debut on August 9 at 9 PM.

Tess Nelson (Vanessa Marcil from General Hospital) is a poised and confident human resources executive who is aiming for a well-deserved promotion. But when her boss informs her she’s being laid off instead, Tess is furious and worried about letting down her demanding mother, Mona (Cindy Pickett).

Determined to use a business trip to an HR convention in Puerto Rico to score a new job, she is discouraged when the trip is a disaster from the start, and an approaching hurricane makes it impossible to fly home. But after bumping into a handsome fellow traveler, Carter (James Denton from Desperate Housewives), Tess opens up to the possibilities beyond her desk job, and the couple’s adventures on the island bring them closer while the hurricane rolls in.

Outlander Poster

On August 9, the new Starz drama Outlander will debut at 9 PM.

Based on the book by Diana Gabaldon, the series will follow the story of Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

NOTE: The first eight (8) episodes of the 16-episode debut season will air consecutively from Saturday August 9 through Saturday, September 27. Then the show will go on winter hiatus, with the remaining eight episodes set to air on Starz in early 2015.

The Knick

The new Cinemax period drama The Knick will debut on August 8 at 10 PM.

The series centers on the Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time (New York in 1900) of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.

The cast includes Clive Owen, Andre Holland (Friends with Benefits), Jeremy Bobb (Hostages) and Eric Johnson (Smallville and Rookie Blue).

The Honorable Woman

The Sundance TV original 8-part mini-series The Honorable Woman will debut on July 31 at 10 PM.

The film follows Nessa Stein (Maggie Gyllenhaal), whose father was a Zionist arms procurer; as children, she and her brother witness his assassination. Years later, after inheriting her father’s company, she dramatically inverts its purpose from supplying arms to laying high-spec data cabling networks between Israel and the West Bank.

Now in her thirties, her sudden appointment to the House of Lords, apparently due to her tireless promotion of projects for reconciliation between the Israelis and Palestinians, creates an international political maelstrom.

The cast includes Janet McTeer (Damages), Stephen Rea (The Crying Game) and Tobias Menzies (the upcoming Outlander).

Manhattan NEW

On July 27, the second original scripted series at WGN America, Manhattan, will debut at 10 PM.

The series is set in the 1940s in a town whose very existence is classified. Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey from The Big C) and his team of brilliant but flawed scientists have been recruited to work on a project even they could know nothing about until their arrival.

The cast includes Olivia Williams (Dollhouse) and Daniel Stern (Home Alone).

Memory Book

The Hallmark Movie Channel original movie The Memory Book will debut on July 26 at 9 PM.

Chloe Davenport (Meghan Ory from Intelligence and Once Upon a Time), a budding photographer in San Francisco, discovers a personal book of pictures showcasing the romance of a young couple from the early seventies. Although the pictures show a couple who is very happy, Chloe is skeptical and believes true love is a falsehood. Wanting to find out more, Chloe sets out on an emotional journey to find the couple, Sarah and Jonathan, who she knows only through their old photos.

With the help of a new friend, handsome but impulsive bartender Gabe (Luke Macfarlane from Brothers & Sisters), she follows leads all around the city, attempting to discover love and find the willingness to accept it in her own life.

Veteran actress Adrienne Barbeau and John Cassini (Continuum) also star.

Rocky RoadOn July 20, the UP Channel original movie Rocky Road will debut at 8 PM.

Harrison Castle (Mark Salling from Glee) has the corporate apartment, expense account and big office at his prestigious Wall Street firm. Harrison is a wheeler-dealer with the world at his feet. But it all comes crashing down in an instant. His firm suffers catastrophic losses and is forced to downsize and Harrison is one of the casualties. Shell-shocked, having lived on the margin the same way he trades, Harrison is suddenly broke. In fact, he’s in debt. He has fallen from Wall Street to Main Street in one bus ride. The bus pulls into a quaint New Hampshire township and Harrison’s parents are surprised and thrilled to see him. Harrison pretends that he is taking a long overdue vacation, when, in fact, he is living his worst nightmare — moving back with his parents and working his old route in his father’s ice cream truck business.

The cast includes Steve Byers (Falcon Beach and Alphas), Rebecca Dalton (The L.A. Complex) and Nicholas Campbell (Haven).
