Chance at Romance

The Hallmark Channel movie Chance at Romance will debut on February 8 at 7 PM.

Ever the romantic, Samantha “Sam” Hart (Erin Krakow from When Calls the Heart) is optimistically trying to find her Prince Charming on a white horse even if that means going on bad date after bad date. When she initiates an online relationship with photographer Heath Madsen (Ryan McPartlin from Chuck) after making eye contact at one of his shows, she never expects that Heath will send her a first class ticket to visit him. Upon arriving for what she expects to be a romantic weekend, she learns that her online relationship with the handsome widow was actually created by Heath’s son, Donny (Ian Andrew from The Mentalist) and their longtime housekeeper, May (Patricia Richardson from Home Improvement). Even worse, her visit is a complete surprise to Heath, who is busy struggling to find inspiration for his upcoming photo exhibit and coping with the pressure from his pushy manager, Celeste Jeffers-Johnson (Kaitlin Doubleday from The March Sisters at Christmas). Once Sam realizes that this romantic visit is nothing but a set-up manufactured by a twelve year-old, she is anxious to end her trip as quickly as possible, but a nasty bout of weather extends her stay through the end of the week. In that time, her non-relationship with Heath has a chance to become a friendship – and maybe more, if Donny and May have anything to do with it.

Gabby Douglas

On February 1, The Gabby Douglas Story will debut on Lifetime at 8 PM.

A prodigy from a very young age, Gabby Douglas originally made her mark on the world of competitive gymnastics at age eight. She won numerous state championship titles in her age group throughout her early competitive career. While her star was fast rising in the arena, Gabby and her family faced economic challenges at home and she made the difficult decision to leave her mother Natalie (Regina King from Southland), three siblings and grandmother (S. Epatha Merkerson from Law & Order) in Virginia Beach and move to Des Moines, Iowa, to train with renowned coach Liang Chow (Brian Tee from The Wolverine) to pursue her dream of Olympic glory.

Buoyed by her early success, dedication and unyielding love from her family, Gabby made it onto the 2012 U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team, setting the stage for triumph shortly thereafter at the London Olympic Games. Her sacrifice and perseverance were triumphantly rewarded with Team Competition and Individual All-Around gold medals, placing Gabby and her teammates – known as “The Fierce Five” — among the world’s all-time greats in gymnastics.

Young actress Sydney Mikayla will portray Douglas as a young girl while Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris) will play the gymnastic as a teenager.

Police quickly question multiple suspects in town, but evidence keeps pointing back to the Borden’s youngest daughter Lizzie, the seemingly wholesome Sunday school teacher, as the prime suspect.

Or is it? Lizzie is put on trial for the murders, both in the courtroom and in the press, sparking a widespread debate about her culpability. As the case rages on, the courtroom proceedings fuel an enormous amount of sensationalized stories and headlines in newspapers throughout the country, forever leaving Lizzie Borden’s name in infamy.
