Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:

On April 1, the 6th season premiere of All American will air on CW at 8 PM

The season finale of Resident Alien will air on Syfy on April 3 at 10 PM while that same day, the finale of The New Look will air online on Apple TV+. Also, that day, the second part of American Horror Story: Delicate will air on FX at 10 PM.

On April 3, the season 4 premiere of Walker will air on CW at 8 PM followed by the debut of the new series Sight Unseen at 9 PM. Sight Unseen follows Tess Avery (Dolly Lewis), a top homicide detective who is forced to quit the job she loves after an incident in the field nearly results in her partner, Jake Campbell (Daniel Gillies), being killed, leading to her ultimately being diagnosed as clinically blind. Haunted by the cases she left behind and reluctant to accept help, or even her own diagnosis, Tess turns to an assistance app to connect with a professional seeing-eye guide 3,000 miles away. An unorthodox partner in Tess’ ear, Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), guides her via a micro-camera, allowing Tess to continue doing what she does best: solving cases. An agoraphobic who leaves her apartment only through the eyes of her clients, Sunny is also hiding a secret of her own – a violent event from her past she hopes to one day solve. Steering Tess through life’s obstacles and crimes – the duo challenge preconceptions about ability, trust, and where to draw the line. Inspired by one of the series co-creators’ recurring experiences with sight loss, Tess and Sunny bring a fresh perspective and unexpected thrills to the crime solving genre.

The box office animated movie Wish will make its small screen debut online on Disney+ on April 3.
Asha (voiced by Ariana DeBose), a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force: a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe – the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Chris Pine) – to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Alan Tudyk voices Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino.

On April 4, the finale of Tokyo Vice will air online on Max while that same day a special episode of Elsbeth will air on CBS at the special time of 9 PM. Also on April 4, the 5th and final season of Star Trek: Discovery will premiere online on Paramount+.

The new small screen adaptation of Ripley will air online on Netflix on April 4. Andrew Scott stars as Tom Ripley, a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son to return home. Tom’s acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder. Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn co-star.

Also on April 4, the Amazon Prime rom-com movie Musica will debut online. This movie is a coming-of-age love story following an aspiring creator (Rudy Mancuso, who also directed and co-wrote) with synesthesia (a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway), who must come to terms with an uncertain future, while navigating the pressures of love, family, and his Brazilian culture in Newark, New Jersey. Camila Mendes and J.B. Smoove co-star.

The documentary Girls State will debut online on Apple TV+ on April 5. This documentary follows teenage girls from Missouri navigating a week-long immersive democratic experiment, learning how to build a government from the ground up.

On April 5, the third and final season of Alex Rider will air on Freevee while on that same day, the CBS dramas S.W.A.T., Fire Country and Blue Bloods will all be back with new episodes at 8, 9 and 10 PM respectively.

The Amazon Prime movie How to Date Billy Walsh will debut online on April 5. The movie follows a pair of childhood friends: Amelia (Charithra Chandran) and Archie (Sebastian Croft). Archie has always kept his love for her a secret, but just as he builds up the courage to declare his feelings, Amelia falls for Billy Walsh (Tanner Buchanan), the new transfer student. The film also stars Kunal Nayyar, Lucy Punch, Nick Frost and Tim Downie.

On April 5, the period piece drama Mary & George will debut on Starz at 9 PM. The seven-part limited series is inspired by the scandalous true story of a treacherous mother and son (Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine) who schemed, seduced and killed to conquer the Court of England and the bed of King James I (Tony Curran).

The new Apple TV+ drama Sugar will debut its first three episodes online on April 5. Colin Farrell stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried. The cast includes Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, James Cromwell, Nate Corddry, Dennis Boutsikaris and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Also on April 5, the Netflix feature film Scoop will debut online. The behind-the-scenes story of the women who negotiated with the Buckingham Palace establishment to secure the “scoop of the decade” that was the public catalyst for the downfall of Prince Andrew (Rufus Sewell), in a televised interview which focused on Andrew’s relationship with the convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of Andrew’s sexual assault of a minor which Andrew denies and in early 2022 settled out of court for a 12 million pounds settlement. The film stars Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, Keeley Hawes, Romola Garai, Charity Wakefield and Connor Swindells.

The Hallmark Mystery movie One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery will debut at 9 PM on April 5.  Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney, who also wrote and executive produced) has been asked to teach a baking class at the college in town, but her equipment is tampered with causing an explosion that the fire department rules an accident. Soon, a colleague ends up dead and Hannah begins to put together the puzzle of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the murder while being on the list of suspects herself. Hannah leans on her friends and family to collect the breadcrumbs of foul play and put them together, and meets a different side of law and order when she crosses paths with Lake Eden’s by-the book prosecuting attorney Chad Norton (Victor Webster). Barbara Niven, Gabriel Hogan, Tess Atkins and Lisa Durupt reprise their roles in the franchise.

On April 6, the Hallmark Channel movie Blind Date Book Club will debut at 8 PM. A bookstore owner finds love and direction in life after agreeing to review a famous author’s new novel in her blind-date-with-a-book club. The film stars Erin Krakow and Robert Buckley.

The second season of Beacon 23 will debut on MGM+ on April 7 at 9 PM; while that same night When Calls the Heart will premiere its 11th season on the Hallmark Channel at 9 PM; and also that same night the 2024 CMT Music Awards will air at 8 PM on CBS. Also, on April 7 he finale of The Regime will air on HBO at 9 PM; and also the new AMC dram Parish will make its timeslot premiere at 9 PM.

On April 7, the PBS series Mr. Bates vs The Post Office will debut at 9 PM. When money started to seemingly disappear from local branches, the government-owned Post Office wrongly blamed their own managers for its apparent loss. For more than a decade, hundreds were accused of theft and fraud, and many were even sent to prison – leaving lives, marriages and reputations in ruins. But the issue was actually caused by errors in the Post Office’s own computer system – something it denied for years. Revealing a shocking David vs. Goliath fight for justice, this is the true story of the decent ordinary people who were relentlessly pursued, coerced and controlled by a powerful corporation, and their ongoing battle, against seemingly insurmountable odds, to right so many horrific wrongs. Toby Jones stars as the title character Alan Bates. The cast includes Lesley Nicol and Ian Hart (among others).

Lastly, also on April 7, the Investigation Discovery docu-series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV will actually air a 5th episode (the docu-series was original 4-parts), airing at 8 PM. This episode will delve deeper into the toxic and dangerous culture behind some of the most iconic children’s television shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s, including allegations of abuse, sexism and racism, and build off the revelations explored in the first four episodes.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

Apple TV+ has given a second season renewal to the Jennifer Garner series The Last Thing He Told Me, which was originally announced as a limited series. This 2nd season will be based on the sequel book by Laura Dave. Garner, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Angourie Rice and David Morse will all return for the second season. (TV Line)

Hulu has pulled the plug on the Mandy Patinkin series Death and Other Details after just one season. (TV Line)

Starz has given a 5th season renewal to Power Book III: Raising Kana. (TV Line)

TV CASTING NEWS

John Ortiz (Promised Land and Messiah) will have a recurring role in Will Trent, playing Will’s uncle Antonio Miranda. (TV Line)

Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss will star in the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series Imperfect Women, an adaptation of the novel by Araminta Hall, which is an unconventional, psychological thriller examining a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. (Variety)

Noah Wyle will executive produce and star in the new Max medical drama from John Wells called The Pitt, a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today’s America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh. (TV Line)

John Leguizamo is joining Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett in the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series Firebug, which is loosely based on true events and also draws from events documented in truth.media’s “Firebug” podcast that will follow a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator (Egerton) as they pursue the trails of two serial arsonists.” Leguizamo will play Esposito, a former policeman with a lot of bad habits and a lot of good instincts. Claire Danes will star inthe Netflix series The Beast in Me from Homeland creator Howard Gordon. The mystery thriller will revolve around acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, who since the death of her young son has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Sheldon, a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth — chasing his demons while fleeing her own — in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly. The upcoming Netflix medical procedural Pulse, which will star Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell and Justina Machado, has added to its cast, including Jack Bannon (Pennyworth), Jessie T. Usher (The Boys) and Daniela Nieves (Vampire Academy) [among others]. The synopsis of the series is: While the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center navigate medical emergencies, young ER doc Danny Simms (Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship. Bannon will play Tom Cole, a witty and charming Brit who is a surgical resident while Usher will play Sam Elijah, a third-year emergency medicine resident and Nieves will play Camila Perez, a a third-year medical student who, despite long hours and an endless workload, always manages to stay optimistic. NEW SERIES NEWS

Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen will star in the Peacock romantic dramedy The Miniature Wife, which is based on the short story written by Manuel Gonzalez. The series is described as a high-concept marital dramedy examining the power (im)balances between spouses, Lindy (Banks) and Les (Macfadyen), who battle each other for supremacy after a technological accident induces the ultimate relationship crisis. BOX OFFICE NEWS

Jeremy Allen White (The Bear and Shameless) is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming narrative feature film about the making of his 1982 album Nebraska. Nothing has been finalized though. (Variety)

Austin Butler (Masters of the Air and Elvis) will star in the new Darren Aronofsky-directed crime thriller Caught Stealing, which be about Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s NYC. (Variety)

Kit Connor (Rocketman and Heartstopper), Cosmo Jarvis (this year’s Shogun), Will Poutler (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country) will star in feature film Warfare, but there are no details about the film nor the roles these actors will play, though.
