On October 22, the Hallmark Channel holiday movie Under the Christmas Sky will debut at 8 PM.

Kat (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is an esteemed astrophysicist, who is scheduled for her first trip into space next year until an accident grounds her. While on leave, coming to terms with the reality that her dream of being an astronaut is over, she volunteers at the local planetarium. There, she is paired up with by-the-book David (Ryan Paevey) to work on an exhibit opening right before Christmas. Will the stars align to bring these two together at the holidays?

The holiday movie Twas the Text Before Christmas will debut on Great American Family at 8 PM on October 21.

Addie (Merritt Patterson), a New York City chiropractor mistakenly receives a text from “Nana.” The accidental text turns into a loving friendship between the matronly Nana and Addie who now communicate regularly. Nana invites Addie to spend the holiday in Vermont. It is picture-postcard perfect and exactly as Nana described except for one surprise. Nana’s single son, James (Trevor Donovan), a traveling doctor, who is also home for the holidays. Over three consecutive years, James and Addie are together during the holidays, though it isn’t until they are both single that they begin to see each other in a different light.

The holiday movie Where Are You, Christmas? will debut on October 21 at 8 PM on the Hallmark Channel.

Addy (Lyndsy Fonseca) wishes for a year without Christmas and she wakes up in a world of black and white. She must work together with the town mechanic to restore Christmas.

On October 20, the Amazon Prime movie The Other Zoey will debut online.

Zoey Miller (Josephine Langford), a super smart computer nerd who is uninterested in romantic love, has her life turned upside down when Zack (Drew Starkey), the school’s soccer star, gets amnesia and mistakes Zoey for his girlfriend.

The film also stars Heather Graham, Andie MacDowell, Patrick Fabian and Archie Renaux.

On October 18, the fall finale of American Horror Story will air on FX on 10 PM.

The BET+ original movie God’s Grace: The Sheila Johnson Story will debut online on October 19. Based on the life of Sheila Johnson (Demetria McKinney) who retired from the Air Force after being diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer and later went on to found an advocacy group to support Black women and men diagnosed with the disease. The cast includes Michael Beach, Amber Reign Smith and Deja Dee.

Also on October 19, the new series Bodies will debut online on Netflix. Four detectives. Four timelines. One victim. In order to save the future, they’ll need to solve the murder that altered the course of history first. The cast includes Shira Haas, Stephen Graham, Kyle Soller, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd and Amaka Okafor.

Season 3 of the Australian series Mystic will premiere online on UP Faith & Family on October 19.

On October 20, the second season premiere of Bosch: Legacy will air online today on Amazon Freevee; while that same day, the first two episodes of the third season of Upload will premiere online on Amazon Prime today.

Here are the entertainment news items for this past week:

NEW HOME

It looks like despite its cancellation at Disney+, the small screen adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles has a new home. Roku has picked up the 8-episode series that will follow the coming-of-age story of the Grace Family, as they move from New York to Michigan and into their family’s ancestral home. The series is set to air sometime in 2024. (TV Line)

SERIES ORDERS

The CW, now under new management, has given the greenlight to two new, original scripted dramas. The procedural Wild Cards will star Vanessa Morgan (Riverdale) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Grey’s Anatomy). The crime-solving series with a comedic twist will follow the unlikely duo of a gruff, sardonic cop (Gianniotti) and a spirited, clever con woman (Morgan). While Sight Unseen will star newcomer Dolly Lewis and Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries and The Originals). This series will center on a top homicide detective (Lewis) who is forced to quit the job she loves after nearly killing her partner and being diagnosed as clinically blind. (TV Line)

LIMITED SERIES ORDER

Netflix is developing a limited series based on the life of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, which will be based on a critically acclaimed book by author Fredrik Logevall. The streaming series sees this series as something like an American version of “The Crown. (Variety)

MOVIE NEWS

The Disney+ animated series Monsters at Work will find the following guest stars for its second season: Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Nathan Fillion (Castle and The Rookie) as well as Jennifer Coolidge, Ali Wong, Danny Trejo and Alan Tudyk [among others]. (Deadline)
