My fellow NiceGirl Lisa attended Dragon Con 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia over the Labor Day weekend, and the following are excerpts of her highlight reports:
On Friday, Lisa “started out the day at a press conference with Rose McIver from iZombie. What Rose loved about her character Liv: She was proud to play Liv, because she was an unusual hero who struggled with her identity and came out of the show knowing her true self. Rose loves that her character is out there for young girls to see and to show them that it’s ok to be vulnerable.”

Lisa was invited to participate in two fan panels during the first day of the convention, including a fan panel for the Freeform fantasy series
Siren as well as a
Jordan Peele Fan panel.

Part of the fun of every convention is meeting some of your favorite people. Lisa got to meet up with Dave Tango and Steve Gonsalves, the original Ghost Hunters on Friday, and the guys from GhostBrothers:

On Saturday, Lisa participated in the
Shadowhunters Fan Panel:
And then got to check out the iZombie panel, featuring cast members Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Aly Michalka and Bryce Dodgson, who talked about their time on the final season of The CW series.
When asked by a fan which TV show each of them would like to see their characters appear on, Malcolm joked Game of Thrones; Rose said The Muppets she loves them and “Miss Piggy is my spirit animal” and Aly said “Peyton would fit in well on Doctor Who.”
Lisa also shared a touching moment that happened during the panel when “a friend of Malcolm’s from high school came and surprised him. He was caught off-guard and went down memory lane when she showed him a video of himself. It was such a great moment to see him be surprised in such a good way. After the panel he stayed and caught up with his friend. It was very touching and another great moment that can only happen at Dragon Con.”
Lisa also got to meet up with one of her favorite actors on Saturday: Jordan Calloway from Black Lightning.

On Sunday, Lisa sat on two panels: the fan panel for Midnight, Texas and the Heroes That Look & Live Like Us panel.

Best of all, Lisa got a hug from actress Nafeesa Williams, who plays Thunder on Black Lightning, [who remembered Lisa from San Diego Comic Con) as she was leaving the hotel. They discussed their love for Pam Grier and how Pam was a superhero for them both. It was perfect ending to Dragon Con 2019 for Lisa!
Here are a few cosplayer pictures that Lisa took throughout the weekend:

Dragon Con is the internationally known pop culture convention held each Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta. Organized for fans, Dragon Con features more than 3,500 hours of comics, film, TV, costuming, art, music, and gaming over five days.
It should be noted that attendance for this year’s convention soared past 85,000 for the five days with more than $110,000 raised for American Heart Association’s Georgia affiliate. The annual Robert A. Heinlein “Pay It Forward” Blood Drive, held since 2002 by LifeSouth, saw some 3,600 donors contribute more than 10,000 units of blood.
Some of this year’s top guests included George Takei (Sulu from the Star Trek franchise), Lana Parrilla (Once Upon a Time), David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones and Good Omens), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who and New Amsterdam), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride and Psych), Zachary Levi (Chuck and Shazam) and Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid) [among others].
Dragon Con 2020 will be held from September 3 to September 7. For more information, you can visit Dragon Con.
