Sunday night’s ratings were a bit delayed today. There was only one new episode of a Sunday night drama in an evening filled with the CMA Fest, reality and repeats.

Here is how that lone Sunday night drama fared in the overall ratings:

9 PM Show:
Instinct (CBS) [NEW] – 3.1 million viewers

Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this week:

On August 5, the second season premiere of Five Points will air on Facebook.

The 100 will air its season finale on August 6 on The CW at 9 PM and that same night Blood & Treasure will also air its season finale on CBS at 10 PM. Also, that night the summer finale of Good Trouble will air at 8 PM on Freeform.

On August 7, the new drama Bulletproof will debut on The CW at 8 PM. The action-thriller follows two undercover cops, Bishop (Noel Clarke from Doctor Who and Star Trek: Into Darkness) and Pike (Ashley Walters from Top Boy) as they chase down hardened criminals in London’s East End. Despite their differences, Bishop and Pike work brilliantly together even when the chemistry between them looks set to explode.

Also on August 7, BH 90210 will air its “series” premiere on FOX at 9 PM. Having gone their separate ways since the series ended 19 years ago, the cast reunites at a 30th anniversary fan convention in Las Vegas, causing old flames, feuds and feelings to reignite. At the end of the weekend, Tori suggests they get a 90210 reboot of the ground. All of the original cast – except for the late Luke Perry – will return to play heightened versions of themselves with new cast members, including La La Anthony, Vanessa Lachey and Ivan Sergei joining them.

The Outpost will move to its new timeslot on August 8 on The CW at 8 PM.

On August 9, the third season premiere of Glow will air on Netflix and that same night Jett will air its season finale on Cinemax at 10 PM.

The Hallmark Channel movie A Taste of Summer will debut on August 10 at 9 PM. Gabby Ferrar (Roselyn Sanchez) moves to the town of Bright Shore, Massachusetts to open a restaurant after a stint as a sous chef in New York. Upon arrival, she encounters Caleb Delaney (Eric Winter, Sanchez’s real life husband), a single father who runs his own restaurant and coaches the girls’ softball team. Both restaurants will compete in the Taste of summer Food Festival hosted in Bright Shore. During the course of the summer, Gabby finds joy in running her own restaurant as she rediscovers her passion and gets to know Caleb.

Also on August 10, the new Lifetime move V.C. Andrews’ Heaven Casteel Saga: Fallen Hearts will debut at 8 PM. Based on the third book, this movie follows Heaven, now happily married and ready to settle back in her hometown. But after a trip to Farthinggale manor, Heaven is persuaded to stay. Lured by her grandfather Tony to live amidst the wealthy and privileged Heaven seems to have it all until the ghosts of her past rise up once more, threatening her precious new life.

The UP TV movie Art of Falling in Love will debut on August 10 at 7 PM. A spirited artist (Kimberly-Sue Martin from Shadowhunters) with a mysterious bucket list gets a commission to paint a mural on a new hospital wing in a charming community. When she finds herself falling for the handsome architect (Josh Dean from Blindspot) designing the addition, she must decide if she can trust him with her list, and the painful memory behind it, or if he’ll break her heart and prove that it’s better to be alone than to be close to someone who will leave.

On August 11, the second season premiere of Succession will air at 9 PM on HBO.

The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries telefilm Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: An Inheritance To Die For will debut on August 11 at 9 PM. Sally Allison’s (Lexa Doig) aunt is poisoned during a family wedding reception and Aurora (Candace Cameron Bure) vows to get to the bottom of the crime, especially when her mother (Marilu Henner), a friend of the dead woman, stands to inherit the bulk of the massive estate. With help from her new beau (Niall Matter) and her Real Murders Club regulars, Roe won’t stop until she brings the killer to justice…or dies trying.

Also on August 11, the season finale of Grantchester will air on PBS at 9 PM.

Lastly also on August 11, the Hallmark Channel movie In the Key of Love was to air on July 1, but was held back until tonight and will debut on Hallmark Movies Now.
Photographer Maggie (Laura Osnes) learns her ex-boyfriend/ex-singing partner (Scott Michael Foster) is in the wedding she is working. Tensions run high until they sing together, remembering how good they were as a duo.

RENEWALS/CANCELLATIONS

The CW has announced that The 100 will end after its 7th season, which will air during the 2019-2020 TV season. (TV Line)

Netflix has renewed 13 Reasons Why for its 4th and final season. (Variety)

The Anna Paquin-led series Flack has been given a 2nd season renewal by POP. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Showtime has renewed City On A Hill for a second season. (Variety)

NEW SERIES ANNOUNCEMENTS

Showtime has given a straight-to-series order to American Rust, based on the Phillipp Meyer novel, that is a family drama that will explore the tattered American dream through the eyes of complicated and compromised chief of police Del Harris (Jeff Daniels) in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania. When the woman he truly loves sees her son accused of murder, Harris is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him. (Variety)

CBS All Access has given a series order to a new adaptation of The Man Who Fell to Earth, based on the Walter Tevis sci-fi novel that inspired the 1976 David Bowie film that centered on an alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. (TV Line)

CASTING NEWS

The new HBO series The Nevers, from Joss Whedon, that stars Laura Donnelly (Outlander) has has announced other cast members, including Olivia Williams (Counterpart), James Norton (McMafia), Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ben Chaplin (Cinderella), Eleanor Tomlinson (The White Queen) and Denis O’Hare (True Blood) [among others]. The series is an epic science-fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies and a mission that might change the world. (TV Line)

CBS All Access has set actor James Marsden (Westworld) and actress Amber Heard (Aquaman) to star in the new small screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, which is an apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old other Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Marsden will portray Stu Redman, an ordinary working-class factory man in an extraordinary situation with a damaged quality to him that belies his exterior. Meanwhile, Heard will play Nadine Cross, a deeply conflicted woman who feels the consequences of her actions, but is still compelled by her allegiance to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man. (Variety)

Actor Chris Messina (The Mindy Project) will star opposite Matt Bomer (White Collar) in the USA Network’s anthology series The Sinner when it returns for a third season. Messina will play Nick Haas, a college friend of Jamie (Bomer’s character), a Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Det. Harry Ambrose (returning cast member Bill Pullman) for support in the wake of an accident. A surprise visit years later alters the course of their friendship and their lives. A return date for The Sinner has not been announced. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Actor Sam Witwer (Supergirl and Being Human) will appear in The CW’s series Riverdale, playing Mr. Chipping, a creative writing teacher at the Jughead’s (series regular Cole Sprouse) new school. (TV Guide)

Actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Keving Probably Saves the World) will take over one of the lead roles in the Netflix adaptation of Sherryl Woods’ romance novels Sweet Magnolias, taking over the role from Monica Potter. The series will center on three South Carolina women who have been best friends since high school, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career and family. The cast already includes Brooke Elliott (Drop Dead Diva) and Heather Headley (Chicago Med). (Deadline and TV Line)

Actress Azita Ghanizada (Alphas) will recur in the back half of season 2 of Freeform’s Good Trouble, playing Kendra Zahir, a new employee at Speckulate, where Mariana (series regular Cierra Ramirez) works, who arrives to shake up the company culture. (TV Line)

Actress Gal Gadot (Wonder woman) will star in a Showtime limited series about legendary actress Hedy Lamarr. The as-yet-untitled biopic about the famed actress/inventor. Lamarr stood at the forefront of many issues that challenged women and our society. (TV Line)

A crossover episode between Freeform’s Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and Hulu’s Marvel’s Runaways will happen this fall when Runaways enters its 3rd season. (TV Guide)
