On January 19, the new Winterfest made-for-TV movie Winter Love Story will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM.

When author Cassie’s first novel isn’t selling, she is paired on a book tour with author Elliot to boost Cassie’s sales – but along the way a romance starts to blossom.

Here is the long list of the programming options to expect on TV this holiday week:

On January 14, The Resident will air its winter premiere on FOX at 8 PM followed by the debut of the new drama The Passage at 9 PM. The Passage is based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy, the series focuses on Project Noah, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race.

Also on January 14, the winter premieres of Magnum P.I. and Bull will both air on CBS at 9 and 10 PM respectively and that same night The Good Doctor will air its winter premiere on ABC at 10 PM.

The Flash will air its winter premiere on The CW on January 15 at 8 PM followed by the new drama Roswell, New Mexico at 9 PM. More than maybe anywhere else on Earth, Roswell, New Mexico is ground zero for those who seek proof that aliens exist. Roswell native Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason) left it all behind 10 years ago, after the death of her beloved older sister, Rosa. But with her father ailing, she reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown to move back in with him. When Liz arrives, she reconnects with Max Evans (Nathan Parsons), her teenage crush who is now a Roswell police officer. Their chemistry is instantly electric. But Liz soon discovers a shocking truth: Max is an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life, along with those of his otherworldly siblings, Isobel (Lily Cowles) and Michael (Michael Vlamis). As the two grow closer after a decade apart, Liz finds it difficult to keep the truth from her best friend, Maria De Luca (Heather Hemmens), and her trusting high school ex, Dr. Kyle Valenti (Michael Trevino).

Also on January 15, the winter premiere of This Is Us will air on NBC at 9 PM.

The winter premieres of Riverdale and All American will air on The CW on January 16 at 8 and 9 PM respectively.

Also on January 16, the new Syfy series Deadly Class will debut at 10 PM. Based on the best-selling 2014 Image Comics graphic novel, the series follows the story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a teen living on the streets who is recruited into Kings Dominion, an elite private academy where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.

On January 17, the series premiere of the Sundance Now series A Discovery of Witches will debut online. A modern-day love story based on the bestselling novel by Deborah Harkness, the series is set against the backdrop of Oxford academic life, following historian Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), a reluctant witch denying her heritage, who accidently discovers a long-lost bewitched manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library, and is immediately thrown into the heart of a dangerous underworld. On her journey, she finds herself tossed into the path of enigmatic vampire and geneticist, Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode), who hides a dark family secret.

Also on January 17, the winter premiere of Grey’s Anatomy will air on ABC at 8 PM followed at 9 PM by the return of A Million Little Things [now on a new night and time] and the 10 PM winter premiere of How To Get Away with Murder; that same night Supernatural will air its winter premiere on The CW at 8 PM while also on January 17, the season premiere of Star Trek: Discovery will air on CBS All Access.

On January 18, Marvel’s The Punisher will air its second season on Netflix while that same night the winter premiere of Dynasty will air on The CW at 8 PM.

Also on January 18, the Hallmark Channel movie A Winter Princess is set to debut at 8 PM, starring Natalie Hall and Chris McNally.

On January 19, the Lifetime original telefilm Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story will debut at 8 PM, starring Christina Ricci, Judith Light and Josh Bowman.

Also on January 19, the new Winterfest made-for-TV movie Winter Love Story will debut on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM, starring Jen Lilley, Kevin McGarry, and Mary-Margaret Humes.

The HBO original telefilm Brexit will debut on January 19 at 9 PM, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Rory Kinnear.

Lastly on January 20, Supergirl and Charmed will both air their winter premieres on The CW at 8 and 9 PM respectively while that same night the new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Ruby Herring Mysteries: Silent Witness will debut at 9 PM, starring Taylor Cole, Stephen Huszar, Shawn Christian, Jayma Mays, and Sarah Drew.

RENEWAL/CANCELLATION

CBS has renewed Criminal Minds for a 15th season, which will be the show’s last season. The final season will consist of 10 episodes shot back-to-back with the Season 14 episodes currently in production. (Variety)

CASTING NEWS

Actress Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest) will have a recurring role on The Rookie, playing Jessica Russo, a smart and intense rock star FBI agent who now uses her expertise training others in the private sector. A straight shooter with a subversive sense of humor, Jessica is an expert in hostage negotiations, predictive analysis and profiling and wrote the definitive book on the subject to prove it. (TV Line)

Actress Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show) will guest star in an upcoming episode of This Is Us, playing Carol, the mother of Beth (series regular Susan Kelechi Watson). (Deadline)

Actor Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0) will play a key recurring role in The Good Doctor (where he also serves as an executive producer), playing Dr. Jackson Han, a brash new Chief of Surgery at St. Bonaventure. (Deadline)

Actor Luke Wilson has joined the cast of the DC Universe series Stargirl, playing mechanic-turned-superhero Pat Dugan, who pilots Stripe, a hulking 15-foot robot of his own invention. (Deadline)

Actor Adam Rose will reprise his role of geeky Max in the Veronica Mars revival expected to air on Hulu next summer as a limited series. This time around, though, Max works as the owner and operator of High How Are You? Neptune’s marijuana dispensary. (TV Line)

HBO is planning the prequel to Game of Thrones, which will include among its cast actors Jamie Campbell Bower (the movies Shadowhunters and the Twilight franchise) and Toby Regbo (Reign). The series will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will chronicle the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. No character descriptions were released however. (E! Entertainment)

SERIES PICK-UP

Netflix announced they will adapt two of author Leigh Bardugo’s best-selling fantasy book series: The Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows novels. They will be made into 8-episode series, which will incorporate characters and concepts from the two franchises. The series will be set in a world cleaved in two by a massive barrier of perpetual darkness, where unnatural creatures feast on human flesh. A young soldier uncovers a power that might finally unite her country, but as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. (TV Line)
