TELEVISION

Actress Thandie Newton (Mission Impossible 2 and Crash) will star in the first original scripted drama from DirecTV. The 10-episode series revolves around a morally and emotionally conflicted cop, Grace (Newton), who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions contributed to her son’s death. Her search for the truth is further complicated by her forbidden relationship with the crime boss who may have played a hand in the crime. (The Futon Critic)

Fox has canceled the comedies I Hate My Teenage Daughter and Breaking In and canceled the dramas Alcatraz and The Finder while giving a second season nod to Touch. (Deadline, E! Online and TV Guide)

Actress Parminder Nagra (ER and Alcatraz) will join the cast of the USA dramedy Psych next season as major new love interest for Gus (Dule Hill). She will appear in multiple episodes as Rachel, a beautiful and charming woman who Gus falls for. (Michael Ausiello at TV Line)

Actor Treat Williams (Everwood and Against the Wall) will join the cast of White Collar on a recurring basis, playing Sam, a gruff and elusive undercover officer from D.C. who has some deeply rooted ties to Neal’s past (speculation is he perhaps be Neal’s dad?) FALL PICK-UP NEWS

FOX has given series orders to the Kevin Williamson pilot now called The Following, that stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, in a story about a serial-killer and the agent who is brought in to track him down. The network also picked up The Mob Doctor, a drama that will star Jordano Spiro (My Boys) and Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights) is a story about surgeon who is forced to moonlight as a mob doctor. BOX OFFICE NEWS

Actor Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) has joined the cast of the upcoming film The Wolf Of Wall Street, which is an adaptation of the Jordan Belfort memoir, that is set to star Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill. DiCaprio is set to play Belfort, who experiences a dramatic rise on Wall Street and gets lost in the hard partying lifestyle that comes with that scene. He then fell from grace, spending 22 months in jail before straightening out his life. Chandler will play FBI agent Coleman, who built the case against Belfort and took him down.
