Calvary

Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson from The Grand Seduction) is a good man intent on making the world a better place. He is continually shocked and saddened by the spiteful and confrontational inhabitants of his small country town in County Sligo. During confession a parishioner threatens that he will kill someone the next Sunday, and as the week progresses the forces of darkness begin to close in around him. The cast includes Chris O’Dowd (The Shappires), Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes and Black Box) and Domhnall Gleeson (About Time).
Get On Up
Opens: August 1
Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of James Brown (Chadwick Boseman from the box office film 42), taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. The cast includes Nelsan Ellis (True Blood), Jill Scott (The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency), Tika Sumpter (The Haves and Have Nots), Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer (The Help), Keith Robinson (Dreamgirls), Lennie James (Jericho and Low Winter Sun), Nick Eversman (Missing and The Tomorrow People), Josh Hopkins (Cougar Town) and veteran actor Dan Aykroyd.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Opens: August 1
This film expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies and Halt and Catch Fire), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits-Rocket (voice by Bradley Cooper), a gun-toting raccoon, Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (wrestler Dave Bautista). But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand-with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. What If
Opens: August 1
The film follows Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter franchise), who becomes infatuated with a girl named Chantry (Zoe Kazan from Ruby Sparks), only to discover that she’s already dating another man, causing their relationship to be put in the “friend zone”. The cast includes Adam Driver (Girls), Jemima Rooper (Atlantis and Lost in Austen), Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire) and Megan Park (The Secret Life of the American Teenager).
Into The Storm
Opens: August 8
In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. The cast includes Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan and Friday Night Lights) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead).
The Hundred-Foot Journey
Opens: August 8
Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal from 90210 and Switched at Birth) and his family are displaced from their native India. They settle in a small French town to open a restaurant, but once the ice-queen proprietress of the French restaurant across the street, Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren), catches wind of it, she gives them hell.
The Giver
Opens: August 15
In a perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of society has a specific role, and 16-year-old Jonas (Brenton Thwaites from Oculus and Blue Lagoon: The Awakening) is selected to be the Receiver of Memory. As Jonas uncovers the truth behind his world’s past, he discovers that many years earlier, his forefathers gave up humanity in order to have a stable society. The film is based on the 1993 novel by Lois Lowry. The cast includes Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Katie Holmes (Dawson’s Creek) and veteran actors Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.
The One I Love
Opens: August 15
A couple in a struggling marriage, escape for the weekend in pursuit of their better selves and end up facing an unusual dilemma. The cast includes Mark Duplass (The Mindy Project), Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men) and veteran actor Ted Danson.
If I Stay
Opens: August 22
Based on the book by Gayle Forman, Mia Hall (Chloe Grace Moretz from Carrie and Kick-Ass) thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, her rebellious boyfriend, Adam (Jamie Blackley from The Fifth Estate). But when what should have been a carefree family drive takes the lives of her mother Kat (Mireille Enos from The Killing), her father (Joshua Leonard from The Blair Witch Project) and her little brother Teddy, everything changes in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance as she lies in a coma in the hospital. Caught between life and death, or otherwise known as ‘limbo’, for one revealing day, she flashes back into her past, and has an out-of-body experience as she watches friends and family gather at the hospital. She must make a decision that will not only decide her future, but her ultimate fate. Lauren Lee Smith (The Listener and Mutant X) co-stars.
When the Game Stands Tall
Opens: August 22
The film is an adaptation of the 2003 book by Neil Hayes about the record-setting 151-game 1992–2003 high school football winning streak by De La Salle High School of Concord, California that will star Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), Laura Dern (Enlightened), Michael Chiklis (The Shield) and Alexander Ludwig (The Hunger Games).
The November Man
Opens August 27
Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) is an ex-CIA operative who has been brought back in on a very personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former protégé in a deadly game involving high level US Government officials and the Russian president-elect. The cast includes
Olga Kurylenko (Magic City and Quantum of Solace), Luke Bracey (Monte Carlo), Will Patton (Falling Skies), Caterina Scorsone (Private Practice) and Eliza Taylor (The 100).
One Chance
Opens: August 29
The film tells the true story of Paul Potts (James Corden from Doctor Who and The Wrong Mans), a shy, bullied shop assistant by day and an amateur opera singer by night who became a phenomenon after being chosen for — and ultimately winning — “Britain’s Got Talent”. The cast includes Jemima Rooper (Atlantis and Lost in Austen), Mackenzie Crooke (Almost Human and Pirates of the Caribbean franchise), Colm Meaney (Hell on Wheels and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and veteran actress Julie Walters (Harry Potter franchise).
The Congress
Opens: August 29
Robin Wright plays an aging actress with a reputation for being fickle and unreliable, so much so that nobody is willing to offer her roles anymore. She agrees to sell the movie rights to her digital image to Miramount Studios in exchange for a hefty sum and the promise to never act again. After her body is digitally scanned, the studio will be able to make films starring her using only computer-generated characters. Twenty years later, her character attends the Futurological Congress, which showcases Miramount’s new technology that allows people to transform themselves into animated avatars. The cast includes Paul Giamatti, Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Danny Huston (Magic City) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road).
