Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On August 17, the season finale of Superman & Lois will air on The CW at 9 PM.
The new Hulu drama Nine Perfect Strangers will debut online on August 18. Based on the bestselling book by author Liane Moriarty, the series takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this 10-day retreat is the resort’s director, Masha (Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them. The cast includes Bobby Cannavale, Luke Evans, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving and Tiffany Boone (among others).
Also on August 18, the second season premiere of Diary of a Future President will air on Disney+ online.
The 11th season premiere of The Walking Dead will air on AMC+ online on August 19; meanwhile, that same night, the season finale of the spin-off series American Horror Stories will air online today on FX on Hulu. Also that night, the season premiere of Coroner will air on The CW at 8 PM.
On August 20, the new dramedy The Chair will debut online on Netflix. Sandra Oh and Jay Duplass star in the new series that follows the chair of an English department at a major university. The cast includes Bob Balaban, David Morse and Holland Taylor.
The Amazon feature film Annette will debut online on August 20. The film tells the story of a provocative stand-up comedian (Adam Driver) and his wife, a world-famous soprano (Marion Cotillard). Their glamorous life takes an unexpected turn when their daughter Annette is born, a girl with a unique gift. The cast includes Simon Helberg (Big Bang Theory).
Also on August 20, the second season premiere of Truth Be Told will air on Apple TV+ online.
The Netflix feature film Sweet Girl will debut online on August 20. A devastated husband (Jason Momoa) vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Isabela Merced). The film also stars Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis, Michael Raymond-James, Amy Brenneman, Adria Arjona, Justin Bartha, Regiie Lee and Marisa Tomei.
On August 21, the Hallmark Channel movie A Little Daytime Drama will debut at 9 PM. In order to save her daytime soap drama from cancellation, head writer Maggie (Jen Lilley) must convince Darin (Ryan Paevey), fan favorite actor and her real-life ex-boyfriend, to return to the show. Soap legend Linda Dano also stars.
The UPtv original telefilm Love Upstream will debut at 7 PM on August 22. Best selling author Charlotte Meyers (Kimberly-Sue Murray), the epitome of a sophisticated Chicago city girl, finds herself spending a month in the wilderness of Minnesota to research and write her new book “The City Girl’s Guide to Wilderness Survival.” Her personal wilderness guide is Rob (Steve Lund) – a handsome, down-to-earth, guy who doesn’t expect Charlotte to do very well in his neck of the woods. However, before long, they realize they have far more in common than not – and soon find themselves falling in love.
Also on August 22, The Walking Dead will air its 11th season premiere on AMC at 9 PM.
The new EPIX drama Chapelwaite will debut on August 22 at 10 PM. Based on the short story Jerusalem’s Lot by Stephen King, the series is set in the 1850s, following Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations. Emily Hampshire (12 Monkeys) also stars.
Lastly, also on August 22, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Honeymoon, Honeymurder will debut at 9 PM. While on a “pre-honeymoon” getaway, Aurora and Nick (Candace Cameron Bure and Niall Matter) discover a body, and as they get closer to finding out what really happened, danger knocks on their doorstep. Marilu Henner also stars.
