East New York follows Regina Haywood (Amanda Warren from Dickinson), the newly promoted police captain of East New York, an impoverished, working class neighborhood at the eastern edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy her creative methods of serving and protecting during the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. The cast includes Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue), Ruben Santiago Hudson (Castle) and Richard Kind (Mad About You).
The new drama True Lies, based on the box office movie, will debut during mid-season. Steve Howey (Shameless) stars as a bland and unremarkable computer consultant, who is actually a skilled international spy. This revelation propels his unfulfilled suburban housewife (Ginge Gonzaga from Kidding) into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.
