Today’s upfront presentation was made by CBS, announcing its expected fall TV schedule, that includes the shows that have been picked up and new shows that will debut in the fall, as well as what will air mid-season.

As usual, I will primarily be focusing on the returning and new dramas.

The expected fall line-up for CBS is as follows: (please note this schedule could change):

MONDAY
8 PM – The Neighborhood
8:30 PM – Bob Hearts Abishola
9 PM – NCIS
10 PM – NCIS: Hawai’i

TUESDAY
8 PM – FBI
9 PM – FBI: International
10 PM – FBI: Most Wanted

WEDNESDAY
8 PM – Survivor
9 PM – The Amazing Race
10 PM – The Real Love Boat (New Reality Series)

THURSDAY
8 pm Young Sheldon
8:30 PM – Ghosts (New Time)
9 PM – So Help Me Todd [NEW]
10 PM – CSI: Vegas (New Night)

So Help Me Todd is about a talented but directionless P.I. (Skylar Astin from Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) who is the black sheep of his family, who begrudgingly agrees to work as the in-house investigator for his overbearing mother (Marcia Gay Harden from Code Black), a successful attorney reeling from the recent dissolution of her marriage.

FRIDAY
8 PM – S.W.A.T. (New Night)
9 PM – Fire Country [NEW]
10 PM – Blue Bloods

Fire Country focuses on young convict Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot from SEAL Team), who, seeking redemption and a shortened prison sentence, joins a firefighting program that returns him to his small Northern California hometown, where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region. The cast includes Billy Burke (Zoo, Revolution), Kevin Alejandro (Lucifer) and Jordan Calloway (Black Lightning).

SATURDAY

SUNDAY
7 PM – 60 Minutes
8 PM – The Equalizer
9 PM – East New York [NEW]
10 PM – NCIS: Los Angeles (New Time)

East New York follows Regina Haywood (Amanda Warren from Dickinson), the newly promoted police captain of East New York, an impoverished, working class neighborhood at the eastern edge of Brooklyn. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives, some of whom are reluctant to deploy her creative methods of serving and protecting during the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. The cast includes Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue), Ruben Santiago Hudson (Castle) and Richard Kind (Mad About You).

The new drama True Lies, based on the box office movie, will debut during mid-season.  Steve Howey (Shameless) stars as a bland and unremarkable computer consultant, who is actually a skilled international spy.  This revelation propels his unfulfilled suburban housewife (Ginge Gonzaga from Kidding) into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage.

Last night’s primetime line-up on the major networks was filled with some comedies and a couple movies along with new episodes from seven Tuesday night dramas, three of which were the show’s season finales and one was the first part of a two-part season finale.

Here is how those seven Monday night dramas fared in the overall ratings last night:

8 PM Shows:
9-1-1 (FOX) [NEW – Finale] – 5.3 million viewers
All American (The CW) [NEW] – 563,000 viewers

9 PM Shows:
NCIS (CBS) [NEW] – 6.3 million viewers
9-1-1: Lone Star (FOX) [NEW] – 4.5 million viewers

NCIS: Hawaii (CBS) [NEW, Part 1 of 2, Season Finale] – 4.8 million viewers

The spin-off series stars Niecy Nash (Claws) as Simone Clark, the oldest rookie in the FBI Academy, who was introduced during Season 4 of The Rookie, when Officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and the L.A. division of the FBI enlisted Simone’s help when one of her former students was suspected in a terror attack. The series will also star Felix Solis (Ozark) and Frankie Faison (Banshee and The Wire).

9 PM – Abbott Elementary (New Night)
9:30 PM – Home Economics

Oscar winner Hilary Swank leads the show as a star journalist who moves to Alaska for a fresh start after a career-killing misstep and finds redemption personally and professionally after joining a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage. The cast includes Jeff Perry (Scandal).

SATURDAY

A Million Little Things, which according to TV Line is likely heading into its final season, has been held over until mid-season.

The Hallmark Channel movie Romance to the Rescue will debut on May 21 at 8 PM.

To impress a potential love interest, Kyra (Andrea Brooks) enters her dog in an agility show. The problem is, she has no dog so she needs to find (and train) one and quick.

The film also stars Marcus Rosner and Nathan Witte.

It’s that time of year again; time for the networks to announce their fall TV schedules, including the new shows that have been picked up and the shows that will be held until mid-season. As usual, I will primarily be focusing on the returning and new dramas.

The first network to announce its expected fall line-up is NBC (please note this schedule could change):

MONDAY
8 PM – The Voice (2 hours)
10 PM – Quantum Leap [NEW]

The reboot of the original series, which starred Scott Bakula and the late Dean Stockwell that aired from March 1989 to May 1993, will star Raymond Lee (Here and Now) in the lead role. It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

TUESDAY
8 PM – The Voice
9 PM – La Brea
10 PM – New Amsterdam (Final Season)

WEDNESDAY
8 PM – Chicago Med
9 PM – Chicago Fire

It should be noted that starting this fall, current NBC series can be streamed next-day on Peacock instead of on Hulu. Also, The Blacklist has been held until mid-season.

It was a busy night of programming on the major networks last night with the Billboard Music Awards, animation, reality, news and repeats taking up most of the primetime line-up along with new episodes from five Sunday night dramas, two of which were season finales.

Here is how those five Sunday night dramas fared in the overall ratings last night:

On May 20, the Amazon 8-episode series Night Sky will debut online.

Spanning space and time, Night Sky follows Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin York (J.K. Simmons), a couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber buried in their backyard which inexplicably leads to a strange, deserted planet. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended…and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.

On May 20, the Hulu feature film The Valet will debut online.

Movie star Olivia (Samara Weaving) faces a PR disaster when a paparazzi snaps a photo of her with her married lover, Vincent (Max Greenfield). The hard-working valet Antonio (Eugenio Derbez) accidentally appears in the same photo and is enlisted to pose as Olivia’s new boyfriend as a cover up.

The film includes Betsy Brandt, Amaury Nolaco and Marisol Nichols.
