Here is the list of the programming options to expect on TV this coming week:
On October 28, the box office animated movie Minions & Monsters will make its small screen debut on Peacock. The seventh installment in the Despicable Me franchise and the third in the Minions prequel, this movie is set in 1920s Hollywood, telling the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions, led by Dick, conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created. Voices are provided by Pierre Coffin, Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges and Zoey Deutch.
The second season of the Passionflix series The Black Dagger Brotherhood will premiere online on October 29; meanwhile, that same day, the finale of American Horror Story: 13 will air at 9 PM on FX.
On October 30, the finale of Dark Matter will air online on Apple TV; meanwhile, that same day, the second season premiere of Dexter: Resurrection will air online on Paramount+.
The new drama Nocturne will debut online on Apple TV on October 30. Ex-soldier Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber) leaves Philadelphia for a quiet life. When serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham) threatens his new home and family, Jonah must protect them, even as he sends his FBI agent daughter Saga to track the killer’s last victim. The cast includes Zazie Beetz, Chrissy Metz and Poorna Jagannathan.
Also on October 30, the Hallmark Channel holiday movie Who’s Coming for Christmas will debut at 8 PM. Having recently relocated, Julie (Rhiannon Fish) is setting up her new town using pieces she inherited from her late grandmother, including a beautiful dining room table she plans to use on Christmas Eve when she hosts dinner for the first time. Though she doesn’t have her guest list set just yet, Julie takes inspiration from her grandmother and has faith that her holiday table for eight will be filled. Julie’s warm, friendly nature leads her to quickly become part of the community and make friends, including her neighbor Mark (Jake Foy) and his young daughter Vanessa (Mila Morgan). Mark suggests that he and his family could join her, making Julie’s dream of dinner for eight come true. But when bad weather keeps them from making the trip it looks like it will be a silent night with just the three of them unless a small Christmas miracle – or series of miracles – fills her holiday table.
The Hallmark Channel holiday movie Adopting St. Nick will debut on October 31 at 8 PM. After “adopting a grandparent” from a new retirement community for the holidays, Maren and her daughter Leah cross paths with program’s manager, Reid, and its suspiciously jolliest of residents. The movie stars Amy Groening and Michael Rady.
On November 1, the 1970s-based MGM+ drama American Hostage will air its finale at 9 PM; meanwhile, that same day, the fourth season of The Gilded Age will premiere on HBO at 9 PM.
The Hallmark Channel movie A Danish Christmas will debut on November 1 at 8 PM. Marie (Emilie Ullerup) is a hotel tech executive living in Chicago who returns home to Copenhagen to spend the holidays with her family and puts herself to work at their inn. When Ryan Miller (Corey Sevier) checks in a case of mistaken identity leads Marie to believe he’s a travel writer. She sets out to make sure his stay is perfect, which includes the Christmas tour Ryan’s expecting…but the Andersen Inn hasn’t offered it since her father passed so she scrambles to cobble together an itinerary meant to impress. When Marie’s mom tells her she plans to sell the inn after the New Year Marie becomes doubly determined to make Ryan’s visit a success – a positive story could boost business and convince her to keep the inn. Marie escorts Ryan on a carefully curated tour of Copenhagen and pulls out all the stops to create hygge at the inn, though both efforts end in some festive fiascos. Despite the mishaps the two forge a connection that may be more than just inn-keeper and tourist. When Ryan Miller the journalist arrives they realize their mistake, sending Marie into overdrive to ensure he experiences the perfect Danish Christmas. In the process, Marie learns that warmth, connection – and, possibly, romance – happen naturally and can’t be created.
Lastly, the second season premiere of Dexter: Resurrection will air on Showtime at 8 PM on November 1.
Mark your calendars!
