Roz Report

It was a very low key kind of day at the convention for Roz, as she skipped all the panels, but did go see Chef Justin Warner (@eatfellowhumans), who worked all weekend with the Marvel staff, but was very sweet in between live streams today.

ROZ REPORT

After all the excitement Roz had yesterday (it was Veronica Mars day yesterday after all), today was a bit more low key for her; but she did have a great time at the panel for The Good Place (which she will miss when it ends next year). She snapped a few pics of the panel, which you can find below:

She also sat in on the panel for The Expanse, which is reaping the financial benefits of all that Amazon money because the show has some amazing visuals. You can see her picture of the panel below:

Her day ended with a visit to Conanfor some sneak peeks at the new fantasy series Carnival Row and then a low-key meet up for the podcast Fansplaining where authors Britta Lundin (“Ship It”) and Rainbow Rowell (“Wayward Son”) made an appearance.

nExt (FOX)

This new FOX drama that hits a bit TOO close to home will debut in 2020. Here is the albeit long synopsis of the show:

nexXt is propulsive, fact-based thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence that asks us to look closely not only at our relationship to technology, but to one another. Silicon Valley pioneer Paul LeBlanc (John Slattery, Mad Men) built a fortune and legacy on the world-changing innovations he dreamed up, while ignoring and alienating the people around him, including his own daughter, Abby (Elizabeth Cappucino, Jessica Jones), and his short-sighted younger brother, Ted (Jason Butler Harner, Ozark), who now runs Paul’s company.

After discovering that one of his own creations – a powerful A.I. called neXt – might spell doom for humankind, Paul tried to shutter the project, only to be kicked out of the company by his own brother, leaving him with nothing but mounting dread about the fate of the world.

When a series of unsettling tech mishaps points to a potential worldwide crisis, LeBlanc joins forces with Special Agent Shea Salazar (Fernanda Andrade, The First). Having escaped crime, poverty and a deadly criminal father to remake herself as a force for good, Salazar’s strict moral code and sense of duty have earned her the respect of her team – a talented but contentious group held together by her faith in their ability to defy expectations and transcend their differences, including Gina (Eve Harlow, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), a high-strung cybercrime agent; Ben (Aaron Moten, Mozart in the Jungle), a straight-laced, buttoned-up hard worker, who is boring to the point of being interesting; and CM (Michael Mosley, Seven Seconds), an ex-con hacker with a genius IQ. But the demands of Shea’s challenging job have taken their toll on her home life, where Salazar’s young son, Owen (Evan Whitten, The Resident), has been raised primarily by his father, Ty (Gerardo Celasco, The Haves and the Have Nots), a recovering alcoholic.

Now, LeBlanc and Salazar are the only ones standing in the way of a potential global catastrophe, fighting an emergent super-intelligence that, instead of launching missiles, will deploy the immense knowledge it has gleaned from the data all around us to recruit allies, turn people against each other and eliminate obstacles to its own survival and growth.

NiceGirl Mynda

Right now in San Diego, hundreds of thousands of pop culture fans are at the convention center for Comic Con 2019, checking out the Preview Night screeners – more on that shortly – as well as a sneak peek inside the coveted doors of the Exhibition Hall (see below for a few pictures from inside those walls).

Just like last year, Amazon had a big outside-the-convention-center activation area dedicated to The Expanse, The Boys and Carnival Row. Thanks to my fellow NiceGirlsTV staff members, who are at the con, I understand The Boys and The Expanse activations were “escape-room type challenges” while the one for Carnival Row was “more like an immersive theater experience.”

Check out NiceGirl Cay’s, NiceGirl Mynda’s and NiceGirl Lisa’s pictures from Carnival Row:

Cool, right?!

Among the special screenings that were to take place in Ballroom 20 were the pilot episodes of The CW’s new DC series Batwoman and the debut episode of Pennyworth that will be debuting on EPIX as well as a look at the new animation series Harley Quinn (among a number of other screeners).

And, thanks to the folks at FOX 5 San Diego, I understand that a special fundraising event for the new Comic-Con Museum happened this evening. The event was called “The Gathering.” It featured a black carpet celebration with Batman, who hit 80 this year, the first character inducted into the museum.

Now it’s time for the Roz’s Report. She got a chance to stop by the Her Universe booth, grabbing herself a new Loki dress and a Ravenclaw (that’s from the Harry Potter universe if you’ve been living under a rock – wink!) sweater dress. She also got herself some cute Doctor Who tattoos and a Fourth Doctor pin.

Check out the pics below:

Roz also got to check out this really cool Lego display for Game of Thrones. Check them out below:

As promised here are a few pictures I found online for Preview Night 2019 inside the Exhibition Hall. Thanks go out to the folks over at Bleeding Cool for these:
