this-is-us

On September 20, the new NBC drama This Is Us will debut at 10 PM.

The series follows a unique ensemble whose paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. We find several of them share the same birthday, and so much more than anyone would expect.

NOTE: There is a twist ending to this series so pay close attention to all of the characters and the dialogue.

The cast includes Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Sterling K. Brown (Army Wives and The People V. O.J. Simpson) and Justin Hartley (Smallville).

sister-cities

The new Lifetime movie Sister Cities will debut on September 17 at 8 PM.

When their ASL-stricken mother Mary (Jacki Weaver from Animal Kingdom) drowns in her bathtub, her four daughters – all from different fathers, different lifestyles and different mommy issues – are reluctantly reunited in the small town where they grew up. They are not pleased when Mary’s death turns out to be shrouded in enough mystery, causing the local police chief (Tom Everett Scott from Reign and Z Nation) sequester them in their ancestral home, forcing them to hash out their checkered memories. Mary is played by Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect and the Crank franchise) plays Mary in flashbacks.

The four daughters will be played by Jess Wexler (The Good Wife), Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl), Stana Katic (Castle) and Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars).

On September 16, the Netflix movie ARQ will debut online.

In a future where corporations battle against sovereign nations over the last of the world’s energy supplies, young engineer Renton (Robbie Amell from The Flash) and Hannah (Rachael Taylor from Jessica Jones) find themselves attempting to save an experimental energy technology that could end the wars. The catch is, the technology has created a time loop that causes them to relive a deadly home invasion over and over again. They must figure out how to stop the time loop and come out of it alive.

Quarry

On September 9, the new Cinemax series Quarry will debut at 10 PM.

The 8-episode series is based on the best-selling books by Max Allan Collins about U.S. Marine Mac Conway who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972, finding himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public he fought for. While struggling with the nightmarish experiences he witnessed and took part in, Conway is unwillingly drawn into a network of killing that spans the length of the Mississippi River.

The cast includes Logan Marshall-Green (24 and The Traveler), Jodi Balfour (Bomb Girls), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Luther), Josh Randall (Ed) and Damon Herriman (Justified).

Queen.Sugar

The new OWN drama Queen Sugar will debut on September 6 and September with a two-night series premiere at 10 PM each night.

The series follows the life of two sisters, Nova Bordelon (Rutina Wesley from True Blood), a formidable journalist and activist from New Orleans, and Charley Bordelon (Dawn-Lyen Gardner from Star Wars: The Clone Wars), a modern woman, who, with her teenage son Micah, leaves her upscale apartment in Los Angeles and moves to the heart of Louisiana to claim an inheritance from her recently departed father: an 800-acre sugarcane farm.

The cast also includes Bianca Lawson (Rogue), Greg Vaughn (Days of Our Lives) and Dondre Whitfield (All My Children and Mistresses) [among others].

StartUp

On September 6, the 10-episode streaming series StartUp will debut on Crackle (with a new episode airing each Tuesday).

Set among the unconstrained, yet opportunist streets of Miami, this series weaves a complex and exciting narrative, focusing on the high-stakes struggle of what one will do to reach ultimate success.

The cast includes Martin Freeman (Sherlock and The Hobbit franchise), Adam Brody (The O.C.), Edi Gathegi (The Blacklist and X-Men: First Class) and newcomer Otmara Marrero.

Discovery Channel

Harley and the Davidsons will air as three two-hour installments over three nights from September 5 through September 7 on Discovery at 9 PM.

Based on a true story, the mini-series charts the birth of this iconic bike during a time of great social and technological change beginning at the turn of the 20th century.

The cast includes Dougray Scott (Ever After), Jessica Camacho (Queen of the South), Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones), Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie) and Gabriel Luna (Matador) [among others].

Summer of Dreams

On August 27, the made-for-TV movie Summer of Dreams will debut on Hallmark Channel at 9 PM.

Fading pop star Debbie Taylor is on the verge of losing everything – including her freedom – when she runs away to suburban Ohio where she finds her way into teaching music to a talented group of misfit kids. As she lays low and taps into the kids’ talents in an attempt to become relevant again, she begins to realize that fame isn’t everything.

The film stars 80’s pop star-turned-actress Debbie Gibson, Pascale Hutton (When Calls the Heart) and Robert Gant (Queer As Folk).

J.L. Family Ranch

On August 21, the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie J.L. Family Ranch will debut at 9 PM.

J.L. is an old-fashioned, conservative cowboy who owns a large ranch in a small Texas town and is the patriarch of a sizeable family that all take shelter under his roof. He has to battle the outside forces of the modern world that is rapidly creeping into his expanding town in order to maintain possession of his treasured ranch and to keep his family together.

The film stars veteran actors Jon Voight, James Caan, Melanie Griffith as well as Teri Polo (The Fosters), Grant Bowler (Defiance), Trevor Donovan (90210), Abby Brammell (The Unit) and Steven Bauer (Ray Donovan).

When a widowed suburban mom, who’s recently gone back to school, takes an internship and enters the fast-paced tech world of millionaire “app-trepreneurs,” she discovers that although life seems to be a lot more digital, love needs to be a lot more real.
